Lately, i noticed that ATS War on Terrorism has been riddled with anti-islam and generally anti-muslim threads. Moreover, there are rarely if ever any dissenting views being posted.

Most posters tend to agree with each other. Post after post are almost always something about how bad muslims or islam is in general. This phenomenon appeared just recently after the london bombing.

If you have visited the freerepublic.com website, you will see that ATS WOT board is slowly becoming something like it. ATS WOT is slowly being dominated by islamophobic threads.

How do you people think?

I would be in an argument on an hourly basis if I posted in the vitriolic threads in that section of ATS. So I have decided to let the impassioned anti-muslim crowd to crow as loudly as they want there without too much of my own interference. Nothing can be done about them it seems. Passing the buck for the wars the U.S.A. and its allies initiated are what appear to be in vogue. Eventually it will have to die out. Who can stand to read the same sentiments over and over again?

Haha, the few "brave" souls who dare post their dissent got swarmed over and got crushed very quickly!

Honestly, last time i visited one thread in WOT, it looks like the "mirror" image of freerepublic's board.

Don't sweat it; ATS boards have been overrun by a small handful of neo-fascist (a.k.a. Bush Republicans). They all just happen to be post count junkies, and take every fecal nugget that works it's way thru the intestines of the NeoCon information/disinformation propaganda organs.

They don't realize that the Islamist radical label has been broad brushed to cover all insurgents & occupied territory folks fighting for something completely devoid of religious considerations.
Hell, most aren't even aware that the most hardcore Islamist doesn't target Christianity the way these "Christians" target their faith

The slide to hybrid Fascism in the US, the steps, speak to why you see these types of threads.....the first 3 go to the heart of it & #6 makes sure they keep thinking that way:

1. Powerful and Continuing Nationalism - Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic mottos, slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays.

2. Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights - Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in certain cases because of "need." The people tend to look the other way or even approve of torture, summary executions, assassinations, long incarcerations of prisoners, etc.

3. Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause - The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial , ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc.

6. Controlled Mass Media - Sometimes to media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in war time, is very common.

So who is trying to instill this, or is it merely information? Additionally, what happens if it is invoked naturally by two opposing sides?

I thought the same thing for a while, thaei, then I actually counted the people who post the anti-Islam threads and there are only about 6. They're just really loud and I think they get their 'juice' from shocking people with thread titles.

A few of us argue back, but that just spurs them on. I try to ignore and skip over the threads or posts from certain people because I know what they're going to say. It's not that we've given up or anything, it's just that arguing about the ridiculousness of it only gives them more power and more points.
And it's like talking to a brick wall. I'd have more influence doing that, actually.

I think they'll get bored after a while. I know I am!

Your right benevolent.

recently, most of these islamophobic threads has disappeared from the front page of the WOT board. Apparently, even the fans of islam bashing threads got tired and stopped patting each others back.

I agree; however it seems the threads start with a ‘hint’ of merit and go off topic very quickly evolving into steady ‘anti-Islam’ sentiment and statements; much in the similar manner chronic ‘Bush bashing’ finds its way into most threads Both get quite tiring and appear in flows.

I can understand the similarities and it is a good point, but a ‘slide’ denotes a ‘de-evolution’. Would not the US of the 1940’, 1950’s and 1960’s be a better application to the provided information much, much more so than the current day? Which, in turn, might suggest the contrary to the proposed premise and may indicate a slow noticeable movement away from a fascist ‘slide’.

If I read the above correctly, you postulate that the hybrid form of fascism taking place today is a "center" driven to by polar opposite points on the political spectrum?
I'll wait for the clear meaning from you, but part of what I've been saying since the obvious & disgusting collusion of the 2000/2004 elections is that the Democratic party is Vichy France in this equation...most definitely.

This is only natural, we are in a time when islamic extreme-ists are attacking modernised countries, what do you expect?

maybe they are extremeists maybe they aren't who knows...i'm not an expert on whats in the quran, they could just be following the doctrine.

Anyway, how do I think?

I try to gather information on both sides... I try not to make a drastic conclusion, but sometimes I slip up. For the most part I believe asking as many questions and being cynical in times like this is important...

I do think that those muslims who took school children hostage in russia are flat out # sticks and that it was terror in it's purest form, there was no reason or logical explanation for them carrying out an agenda such as that.

I am no islamophobic, and when it comes to examples like that i'm a far cry from phobic, quite the opposite actually... Not scared, just angry, and would love to take em all out if I had super human powers...

Well I will have to add to this thread that it depends what is the topic of the day that's is how the majority take sides.

Occurs sometimes it seems that the balance tip more to one side than the other but usually it balance up after a while or when the administrators of this site steps in and said "enough is enough".

Since US is wagging a "war on. . . sorry but I forgot on what anymore" well its related to the middle east and occurs is a lot of resentment against Muslin radicals, but mostly on muslins all together.

The same many american People think that all Latinos are "Mexicans" so they think that everybody from the middle east are mostly Islamic radicals and bad.

Its just human nature.
