Shuttle Discovery creates a poofy Prandtl-Glauert cloud

Under the right conditions, fighters, bombers, Saturn V rockets cause these spectacular clouds. And during Discovery's July 26 launch, it too made a Prandtl-Glauert condensation cloud.

I remember seeing that when I was watching the launch on TV. It didn't click that that's what it was at the time. Great find!

I seen the cloud when the craft passed the sound barrier. iT was very COOL.
