Coming Back to Life - Pink Floyd, from The Division Bell. High Hopes is hauntingly beautiful as well.

For classical, Adagio for Strings from the movie: Platoon.

Visa - Fly Away.

One of the best and most beautiful Anthem Trance songs ever made. Particulatly the Hixxy Hardcore remix.

I'm also partial to Beethoven's 9th Symphony.

Ian Stuart doing "Greenfields of France"
I've listened ot others doing the song and they don't seem
to put the emotion in it like him.

I am not much of country music fan, but this song always gives me chills...

What Might Have Been

Sure I think about you now and then
But it's been a long, long time
I've got a good life now, and I've moved on
So when you cross my mind...

I try not to think about what might have been
Cause that was then
And we have taken different roads
We can't go back again
There's no use givin in
And theres no way to know
What might have been

We can sit and talk about this all night long
And wonder why we didn't last
Yes, they might be the best days we will ever know
But we'll have to leave them in the past...

So try not to think about what might have been
Cause that was then
And we have taken different roads
We can't go back again
There's no use givin in
And there's no way to know
What might have been

That same old look in your eyes
It's a beautiful night, I'm so tempted to stay
But too much time has gone by
We should just say good bye, and turn and walk away...

And try not to think about what might have been
Cause that was then
And we have taken different roads
We can't go back again
There's no use givin in
And there's no way to know
What might have been
No we'll never know, what might have been

Cusco has done a lot of beautiful work, but Aurora has an especially touching, timid little flute melody over some comforting strings.

but I have to also make mention of The Great Gate of Kiev from Pictures at an Exhibition (when properly performed, that is
), as well as Beethoven's 6th and 9th symphonies, and his 13th String Quartet.

Bill Withers - Lean On Me

Sometimes in our lives we all have pain.
We all have sorrow.
But if we are wise.
We know that there's always tomorrow.

Lean on me, when you're not strong.
And I'll be your friend.
I'll help you carry on.
For it won't be long.
'Til I'm gonna need.
Somebody to lean on.

Please swallow your pride.
If I have things you need to borrow.
For no one can fill those of your needs.
That you don't let show.

So just call on me brother, when you need a hand.
We all need somebody to lean on.
I just might have a problem that you'd understand.
We all need somebody to lean on.

Lean on me, when you're not strong.
And I'll be your friend.
I'll help you carry on.
For it won't be long.
'Til I'm gonna need.
Somebody to lean on.

So just call on me brother, when you need a hand.
We all need somebody to lean on.
I just might have a problem that you'd understand.
We all need somebody to lean on.

If there is a load you have to bear.
That you can't carry.
I'm right up the road.
I'll share your load.
If you just call me (call me)If you need a
friend (call me)call me(call me) if you ever need a friend.

Scratching my head, and compiling a shortlist of 'most beautiful songs', I realise that all my contenders come from one band - Ocean Colour Scene. They're more known for their 90's Britpop summer anthems, but delve into their b-sides from the same era and you'll discover the most beautiful and haunting tunes.

Robin Hood
Hello Monday
So Sad
The Clock Struck 15 Hours Ago
The Waves (an album track, not b-side)
Going Nowhere for a while
Outside Of A Circle

All amazing songs, takes me back to my teenage days! Other than that, I'd suggest Neil Young's Birds, or Accross The Universe by The Beatles, or Farewell Farewell by The Fairport Convention.

What Would happen by Meredith Brooks

Electricity, eye to eye
Hey don't I know you
I can't speak
Stripped my senses
On the spot
I've never been defenseless
I can't even make sense of this
You speak and I don't hear a word

Chorus:
What would happen if we kissed
Would your tongue slip past my lips
Would you run away, would you stay
Or would I melt into you
Mouth to mouth, lust to lust
Spontaneously combust

The room is spinning out of control
Act like you didn't notice
Brushed my hand

Forbidden fruit
Ring on my finger
You're such a moral, moral man
You throw it away, no question
Will I pretend I'm innocent

Chorus

I struggle with myself again
Quickly the walls are crumbling
Don't know if I can turn away

Chorus

Roulette -system of a down, saved my life, all acustic no drums and serj tankian sings it amazingly

have a problem that I cannot explain,
I have no reason why it should've been so plain,
Have no questions but I sure have excuse,
I lack the reason why I should be so confused.

I know, how I feel when I'm around you,
I don't know, how I feel when I'm around you,
Around you.

Left a message but it ain't a bit of use,
I have some pictures, the wild might be the deuce,
Today you saw, you saw me, you explained,
Playin the show and running down the plane.

I know, how I feel when I'm around you,
I don't know, how I feel when I'm around you,
I know, how I feel when I'm around you,
I don't know, how I feel when I'm around you,
Around you.

I know, how I feel when I'm around you,
I don't know, how I feel when I'm around you,
I know, how I feel when I'm around you,
I don't know, how I feel when I'm around you,
Around you, Around you, Around you...

Oh so many songs that get to me. Here's a list of the ones I found surfing through my library
"Iris"- Goo Goo Dolls
"My Immortal"- Evanessence
"Let It Be"- The Beatles
"Imagine"- John Lennon
"Lost Cause"- Beck
"Watch The World"- Boxcar Racer
"Broken"- Seether
"Aqueous Transmission"- Incubus
"Hear You Me"- Jimmy Eat World
"Can't Repeat"- The Offspring
"The Kids Aren't Alright"- The Offspring
"Maybe I'm Amazed"- Paul McCartney

And quite the bunch here. The following are all by Moby:
"18"
"At Least We Tried"
"Love Should"
"Homeward Angel"
"35 Minutes"
"Hotel Intro"
"Fireworks"
"Guitar Flute and String"

All of those, "18" in particular are very beautiful songs, IMHO. The entire Hotel album is really nice.

Some of the songs in the first list aren't beautiful, per say, but touching. Some of my favorites for you

agreeing with Damien Rice's Cannonball, Elton John's Your Song and also Hallelujah... the Jeff Buckley version is perfect but i also happen to like the Kathryn Williams cover. Shady Bard - These Quiet Times is my most favourite beautiful song at the moment, but there's so much talent around... Barfly, Iko, Jack Johnson, Tom McRae, Long-view... the list could quite happily go on and on and on

hmmm.... beautiful music....

LITTLE WING by Sting.

That song blew me away when I first heard it back in '89. I was even more blown away when I found out who wrote it: Jimi Hendrix. Sting.. Jimi Hendrix.. they were nothing alike? How could it be? At the time I did not know what a brilliant musician and writer Hendrix was. I never had a doubt after that. The most interesting thing is, three versions that I know of have been recorded.. and I LOVE all three. Jimi Hendrix, Sting and finally, one of all-time favorites, Stevie Ray Vaughn. He does a straight musical version, which is so beautifally arranged, its insane. Sting arranged it as a light, jazzy number. Hendrix's version is RocknRoll.

Little Wing, Jimi Hendrix

Well, she’s walking through the clouds
With a circus mind
That’s running wild
Butterflies and zebras and moonbeams
And fairy tales

That’s all she ever thinks about...

Riding with the wind

When I’m sad she comes to me
With a thousand smiles
She gives to me free

It’s alright, she says,
It’s alright
Take anything you want from me,
Anything

Fly on, little wing
