Aug 23) Twenty-one people died in the explosion of a satellite launch rocket at Brazil's Alcantara space center near here, aeronautics officials confirmed Saturday...

www.spacedaily.com...

Article's a little old, but relevant.
This brings up the possibility of US intervention...
We all know about Bush's plan to "dominate" space. He plans on denying access to space from other nations. I think he's getting a little anxious.
The ESA already has a manned mission to Mars planned, and NASA has to build a 'sterile faclity' to protect the people from extraterrestral diseases.

Brazilian Govt. already came out with the news that one of four engines was ignited by accident, causing the explosion. Maybe a VEEEERRRRYYYYY Deep conspiracy but I think it's right in line with Brazilian space projects, so far.

I haven't been keeping up with space advanceents lately, but did China ever get their people in space?
I know they were going to, but have they gotten there yet?

The only people is space so far are the US, USSR/Russia, and the EU, right?
anyone else?
