I was going to wait until I had all the results in.
But I thought I'd share this with you all.
I have 6 votes in and am awaiting the final Judge to give me his result.

Judge A = Banshee.
Judge B = .Kptrkptr
Judge C = .Kptrkptr
Judge D = .Kptrkptr
Judge E = .Banshee.
Judge F = .Banshee
Judge G = .Banshee

I promise you this is totally straight.No games.

I will post up some selected comments from the judges shortly.

Banshee is declared the winner.

Well whatever happens Banshee that was a damn good debate

edit - I congratulate Banshee with no cynicism. Also I eagerly await the comments (esp. from Judge A) ... genetic profiling is totally wrong.

A couple of judges gave quite detailed verdicts which were a bit hard to edit.
And of course I don't want to give their identities away.
This is just a small selection.

" Very imformative."

"Banshee had the most logical and realistic argument."

"the standard on both sides is of the highest quality.............Ktprktpr wins by a short margin".

"I just finished reading their debate and both sides were fantastic!"

"It was close.I was leaning to Bashee but she failed to finish the debate."

Thankyou to all the judges.

This sounds crazy but this might work:

would you consider releasing the fuller commentaries if you translated them to, say, German, Spanish with Babelfish and finally back to english? That should remove any characterization (perhaps coherance too
). babelfish.altavista.com...

It's really really valuable to get feedback.

edit- Babelfish sez:

original:
"It was close.I was leaning to Bashee but she failed to finish the debate"

-> French

"C'tait close.I se penchait Bashee mais elle n'a pas fini la discussion "

-> German

"Es sich wurde I geschlossen neigte an Bashee, aber sie hat die Diskussion nicht beendet "

-> back to English

"It I closed leaned at Bashee, but it did not terminate the discussion."

No characterization at all, while remaining vaguely legible ... enough to get a gist of feedback. (edit- Just translating to one language should be enough.) Sound good? I'm serious here....

I congratulate Banshee for her win BUT I wish to also congratulate ktprkpr for his participation in the debate and for doing a great job. I look forward to reading more of both the participants future debates.

Wow!!!
That was my first ever debate. Thanks!
ktprktpr sure gave me a run at it.

Next time, I'll try not to crack a rib in the middle of things.

I can't BELIEVE Banshee pulled the broken wing stunt to lull ktpr into a false sense of security AND get Ref #7's sympathy.

What a heel.

I am not going to do this with every verdict but here is the verdict of Judge A in greater detail.

Posted with permission.

"The arguments of the contrary position positioned themselves by bridging the past/present states of the issues and industries, and how they've performed in like scenarios, with the likely future state of how they would handle genetic profiling.
The arguments for the affirmative had a recurring theme of assumed responsibility and accountability as a cornerstone of their refuting all of the contrary arguments. The crux of the debate being awarded to the contrary standpoint was the clear delineation, via example, that the track records of the entities in control of the technology has been otherwise.
The obvious point won by the affirmative argument is that the technology will move forward come Hell or High water, so better to legislate what we can when we can.
The point that neither side broached, that I would have liked to see debated, is that minor/major adversities can be manipulated away via genetic manipulation, hence removing the trials of life, both small & large, that forge an individuals mettle and resolve. The end product being the human manifestation of the bee hive."
