Here Here!
Yes, the country is in much distress and disarray due to several factors.
I'm glad you have realized this and hope you will act on it.
We can talk about this and that, but it's not until you finally do something that anything changes.

a wise man whom I respect once told me

Three frogs are on a log.
Two decide to jump off.
How many frogs are on the log?

The answer is still one.

May grace be with you.
Welcome to the fight for righteousness.

Hear hear

Not all americans support the invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq. Of course a lot of what you mentioned form part of american 'culture'. Yet there are learned people out there that do not buy into the sensationalisation of events in mainstream media like Fox and CNN. Hence we do have alternative ways to get some real news with real substance like ATS.

Some people (not me) might be sick of hearing about people who are sick of everything. But there is certainly a sickness, a general malaise, that needs to be dealt with.

Be careful you don't get inadvertently labelled with the classic stereotype of the complainant, the "whinging Pom". These (only occasionally non-fictional) characters do not reside in the mainland US with an incidence that makes them common garden variety pervaders of negativity.

Try putting yourself on the side of offering solutions sometimes too.

Do you, MA? Ever? All of your posts that I have seen have just one theme and that is to put down some other poster or the United States by using your pseudo-intellectualism in a very condescending way.

What pray tell has Jane Fonda done during the Iraq invasion/occupation other than the only just announced bus tour? Just upon hearing that you got sick of her? Why add her into this list?

You are sick of stereotyping although you are sterotyping alot yourself in your thread.

Looks like you are the typical hypocritical american who is just frustrated but really doesnt know why because you lack the intellect.

Zach,

I can understand your frustration.

How about you take each of your points though, and suggest an alternative? Or a reason why each is a problem?

At least then we'll have a basis for discussion, you know?

motionknight, that's just lame...

Zach, sounds more like a rant to me
but I feel ya...

I generally ignore CNN these days unless something interesting happened unrelated to the war...

I hope they find a solution soon...

im sick of all the crap too

instead of what they are doing

here are good alternatives for News Agencys to report on

1) making water and electricty cheaper and cleaner for normal people
2) keeping corporations from causing so many problems / also keeping them from price gouging
3) they need to report more on 3rd party politics *theres plenty to report*
4) reporting on suspicious connections between the powers that be
5) Trying to Solve world Hunger *the MOST important issue on earth!*
6) Trying to End World Poverty including that in America *the 2nd most important issue on earth!!!*
