With the help of the Hubble’s coronagraph, astronomers from the University of California, Berkly and the Goddard Space Flight Centre have taken pictures of Fomalhaut and the off centre ring of dust. That looks like the “The Great Eye of Sauron”.

Even the Hubble Space Telescope must have done a double-take when it snapped this spectacular image, looking for all the world like the Great Eye of Sauron from the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Hubble's picture of the off-centre ring of dust around Fomalhaut, one of the nearest and brightest stars in the sky, offers the best evidence yet that a planet, or planets, is orbiting the star.

Sauron... did you just take a Digi-Cam and snap a shot of your own eye?
... Or maybe the Lord of the Rings movies were playing at some deep space drive in theatre and hubble accidentally snapped ashot of it...

But seriously that is quite a spectacular shot, its amazing what beautiful images space can offer.
