Sudan's army and rebels have accused each other of staging attacks in the Darfur region, days after peacekeepers said security had improved.
Rebels accused government forces of using helicopters and planes to bomb villages while the army said the rebels had killed four soldiers.

A helicopter crashed in Darfur during bad weather with the deaths of 19 military personnel, a statement said.

More than 2m people have fled their homes in two years of conflict.

It's been two years since the outbreak of what some have termed "genocide" in Sudan and still there seems to be no end to the bloodshed and violence. It has been estimated that 2 million people have lost their homes and villages due to government forces action. 180,000 have died and as the last paragraph of the story relates, the end may come because there are no more villages left to burn or poeople to kill.

It is a terrible shame, in my opinion, that the ongoing trouble in the Sudan gets little if no coverage in the U.S.
The U.S. Congress declared a year ago, that what was happening in Sudan amounted to genocide; however, not much has been done to aid the people who are suffering there.
