Thank you. I bought him a beer and myself one and I listened. I regarded him as human. "I've seen him after. he remembers my name and I his and he always greets me. And I give him a bit of money for food or whatever.

like i said anyone can knock one back and give the "me too" act, takes a person who REALLY cares to actually do something for them, even giving them a shirt or buying them a meal does somemore for them than buying them a frigging beer colonel.

I actually was out at some clubs in New Haven one night when a bum asked me for cash. I said "What are you going to do for it?" He was dumbfounded.
I proceeded (with my buddy) to get him going with a little drumming and singing act. I actually participated for a couple hours as well. He was still a street urchin when we moved on but he was making a LOT more money by entertaining the passers by.

What have YOU done?

If you really want to help the homeless,help them get a job. Giving the homeless a couple of bucks here and there does nothing to solve his problem. There are plenty of places for the homeless to get help cleaned up.
Like when I was in construction. From time to time we would give one a job if they asked for one. Which put money in their pockets. And it was money that was earned, not given. If they worked hard the boss would keep them employed.

And we have come full circle to the Jobs that people who are currently american should have.
