The governments war against terrorists, as civilians suffer the middle ground. When the fighters come out with new and innovative methods for shock, which side suffers the most? As terrorists continue to bomb London, a 'liberated' Iraq becomes a guinea pig country for new space age weapons. While the terrorists bomb, citizens will pay, as the U.S. uses Iraq to implement it's new Active Denial System in 2006. How long will we occupy that land?

Scientists are questioning the safety of a Star Wars-style riot control ray gun due to be deployed in Iraq next year.
...
But New Scientist magazine reported on Wednesday that during tests carried out at Kirtland Air Force Base in New Mexico, participants playing the part of rioters were told to remove glasses and contact lenses to protect their eyes.
...
The magazine said a vehicle-mounted version of the weapon named Sheriff was scheduled for service in Iraq in 2006 and that U.S. Marines and police were both working on portable versions.

When will people see that the war on terror is an extension of terrorism itself? As people become paranoid, they will submit their rights, and accept potentialy dangerous unconventional weapons to be used against them. If the Marines and police will use that technology, do you really think it'll be used to subdue the shooting enemy or civilian crowds?

Broad weapons + less rights for 'protection' = bad idea.

Well it's nice to see we're working on a non-lethal crowd control weapon. It could be a lot worse, we could be mowing them down with a machine gun instead.

The Active Denial System was mentioned here on ATS last year. It´s nothing new. I actually thought they had it in place in Iraq already...
