I have heard this twice; once from a Oncology nurse and a Phsycian that specializes in GI/Stomoch cancers. Working around the chemicals in the chemo-therapy causes cancer and being exposed to it will cause cancer sometime later in their life. I wander if there is any statiscs to back up this claim.

What I don't doubt is, some of the Chemicals used in Chem-therapy are so violatile that if not handled correctly it will eat through their latex gloves.

If you've had chemo/radiotherapy for cancer, you do have a higher chance of certainly the leukaemias.

Remember, chemotherapy is toxic - it kills and mutates living cells; but it's a risk that's considered acceptable when the alternative (ie, not having chemo) is more of a danger.

Immunosuppression (which invariably happens with chemo) renders your body much less able to fight infection and some kinds of cancer.
