Plexiglass is virtually invisible underwater. You can see his very deliberate steps, feeling to make sure he's on the post. People swim 'under' him, but never under his feet. So, the whole thing requires set-up, and paid 'actors' to accomplish a filmed stunt.

yes, and at one point you can see a woman swimming in front him, but she realizes to fit between the plexiglass stands, she needs to turn her body to fit through, its really obvious.

Looks like the swimmners in the pool keep moving around to agitate the water to obscure the prop. You can tell he's trying to find each step. He has to plonk his foot straight down to find the step and at one point misses and his shoe falls off. Another member has pointed out that the "random" Asian girl in the pool, is the same girl who witnesses him levitate near that doorway in another episode.

[Strolling through various forms of debris in this thread, around small fires, occasionally coughing, with smoke everywhere.]

I leave this debate for a while and look what happens.

Hey Everyone:

You know...

Criss Angel being able to levitate high in the air and teleport through supernatural means - or not - really isn't all that important in the larger scheme of things.

Which reminds me.

Wasn't OUR PAL supposed to show up in here and make an official proclamation about his abilities?

I hardly think CA is going to post on this board. It says on his site he does not participate in chats, message boards etc. I can see someone coming in on his behalf, or even he himself, but he'd disguise his indentity. He couild have been in here all along.

As I stated previously, I have no real issue with you PR, you have your beliefs and I mine, and hopefully we are respectful of each other. You put forth your arguement with some thought and backup material. Not everyone may agree with you, but you don't make others feel they have been insulted or verbally abused.

People could learn from that.

Well I'm finally convinced. I just saw a Pine Sol commercial on TV which showed 2 people floating and since I saw no harness or wires, they must have used Chi to do it. So we can now add 2 more people to the very short list of people who can levitate for real.

You ask why no-one else is doing what Criss Angel does? Maybe because you've overlooked another reason - what he does is technically skilled, not "para-psychologically" skilled. You've set yourself up to be confused/deluded on this one, as you've clearly not looked deeply into the matter. You've seen a guy "flying" on TV, gone "wow - that proves everything I hold dear", and not wanted to look any closer in case what you find hurts and disproves your point. I'm sure it would be gutting to you to find out Criss Angel is just a normal guy, using wires as they have done in Hong Kong movies for decades (which you can't see when filming, especially with newer materials).

By your logic, Jackie Chan can fly.

I'm sorry man - it was just too real for me! I can't take it! The moment I stopped critically analysing anything I saw, I became scared of all these flying people on adverts, talking animals, robots from the future, and aliens. I saw a horriffic documentary the other day where this TALKING RABBIT attacked a hunter in the forrest! What made it worse was this hunter had a rather unfortunate speech impediment, and was clearly of below-average intelligence. That didn't stop the possibly-alien talking rabbit from blowing him up with his own gun, though, by sticking his finger in the barrel. I called the police, but they wanted nothing to do with me. It's a massive conspiracy!!!

I actually agree that Criss Angels flying is just a pebble in the ocean, compared to everything elso going on in the world at the moment. Although we all have a duty to try to stop others being misled and decieved by any forces, whether the Government, press or misinformation from any source. If a human being could demonstrate an ability to really Levitate, then I would be one of the first to applaud. However, when people are being taken in by Magic tricks and being led to believe that they could be the real thing, that is what I personally dislike. The real Magic takes place in the minds of the people watching and the effect which it has on them personally. There are a number of people who have contributed to this thread, who have REAL expertise, in a number of areas who would be able to Invent the next wave of big Illusions if they were to put thier skills togeather. That is how a Magical Inventor works, most of the new Tricks/Illusions come from adapting new inventions, products, and devices and applying them to a Magical presentation. Although I would draw a line at video editing and CGI, a big part in Magic, comes from the solving of puzzles, if we get used to computer trickery, then we put everything down to this and don`t move forward. Perhaps one good thing which may come from this thread, is that it has drawn in imput from Engineers, Climbers, Technichians, even one with a good knowledge of Hydraulics and Pneumatics and Engineering. Why not put your minds to devising new Illusions, we need it!

If you listen closely on the Luxor levitation video, you will hear Criss ask Jesus to protect him as he begins. Criss knows that his ability to levitate comes from the realm that is unseen to the common person, and he may well believe that God has gifted him with his abilities and thus appeals to God to protect him.

Or maybe he just asks god for protection (as in "don't let the wires break, Jesus!"), like many other christians do, before attempting something dangerous.

Wait.. Now he can teleport?!? When did that happen?

Could it be, when he "teleported" that couple in the hallway? Is that it?

I'm sorry, but that teleportation "illusion" is the worst piece of **** i have ever seen.. If i was an illusionist, i would be ashamed to put something like that in my TV show. Because if that is not obvious to everyone, how it was done, then i don't know what is...

Unless of course you believe Criss would never ever, not even once do something like use camera tricks...

But in that case, you forgot to add one ability to his special powers: the ability to get sawn in half! Because that was also done without any camera tricks or paid audience, wasn't it?

This chi thing really is incredible.

As I've said, I do like Criss Angel, love his show. The problem I have with him is when he insists he doesn't use edits. Well maybe he really doesn't and we're all wrong, and I'll be the first to apologize for that accusation. So far the evidence is more to the side that he does use camera tricks. I read his book and it seemed pretty honest, until I got to the part where he insisted he doesn't use camera tricks or CGI. At that point I distrusted all the previous pages in that book, and ones that followed. It's as of he can't let who he really is be known.

I'm not a magician and so I don't know how things are to be done. I guess it's ok that he plays it up he's a supernatural being on the show, it's just TV and entertainment. I understand it's part of the act to draw you into believing the illlusions more. Fine. He uses a disclaimer by saying the paranormal is BS and all that. It's just the way he carries on "this is real, I'm reallly walking up this building. I really lifted that car with my mind body spirit", when he clearly admits that is all faked in that P&T inteview. He more or less admits the MB&S is BS, then goes on about it in his book how real it is. I just don't get him at all. It's clear he wants you to think this way of him, but it's confusing because he sends out alot of mixed messages.

I can see how some people believe what he's doing is real because he keeps saying it is.

Here's an article I found from 2007, it's interesting what the writer says about him being this way.

article

But I do not think when I interview Criss Angel he ever steps offstage at all. In Angel I always hear a guy in character even if part of that character is an aching sincerity. He wants to be liked and it oozes out of him. Of course, when you like someone, you let your guard down; and it is easier to be tricked by the person. Where does the artist end and the person begin? That is what fascinates me with Criss Angel, and, I think, it is something he is determined to hide

... Angel resisted the word "trick," claiming everything was real

Let’s not forget the other benefits of Pine Sol: it kills germs and has a nice smell. Come to think of it, if one inhaled enough Pine Sol, one might think one could fly. Or perhaps believe that Chris Angel is really flying. Perhaps that’s the answer we’ve been searching for…

P.S. Maybe you should start a thread jfj123, on the wonders of Pine Sol – The Liquid of the Gods!!!

I greatly appreciate your faith in my knowledge of cleaning and cleaning abilities. I will consider your request to start a new thread. Maybe it could encompass many different conspiracies.

The title could be something like,
If you sniff Pine Sol for 10 minutes, what seemingly real paranoid thoughts entire your mind?
Ready ? set ? SNIFF !!!

Hi all, Perhaps it is now time to put this thread to bed, as it were, it is now perhaps possible to acknowledge that C.A. is a magician of the new breed, and not a god of the new world. I feel bad that Eyewitness has been warned because he felt that C.A. was a true prophet, but the facts say otherwise. This thred was started as a discussion as to whether C.A. was a magician or the real thing, I personally think that it has to be accepted that he is a clever Magician and nothing else. We should accept that the Magic world has become stale and stagnent and this is a new angle on the past of magic, with a glimpse of what can be in the future. Perhaps we can all learn from this, I from a Magical background and others as spectators, all seem open enough to accept that perhaps the EGO has darkened the lines between fact and reason. This blame has to be put onto C.A. and not onto anyone who has posted on this thread, it is always the same when anyone starts a thread with a Fact or Bull***t hypothesis. They will get numerous replies, but often no conclusion. I think that thee time has come for a conscientious Moderator to say O.K. enough is enough, and close the thread. Criss is a Magician and a self publicist and perhaps this was the wrong forum for this to be raised in the first place. We are looking for facts and reason, but we have strayed into the world of deception to look for answers and without disclosure. there are none. The Magicians code has to stand for something and when we stray into the world of You-tube disclosures for even the latest Magical invention, which can sometimes be hours after a trick or illusion is released, the answer is out there. If we work for years developing an Illusion or Trick, then why should we then condone exposure, by self seeking exposurists, to gain a few points with the consumerist public who want to out the Magical Arts. What is life, without a little bit of magic?

Sad thing is, we could all use a little more magic I think. I look forward to the CA / Cirque du Soleil show. The Cirque shows have always left me with a great feeling afterwards, highly recommended. That's a powerful combo. Add half naked showgirls to it and you have a smash!

We're looking for the Cirque show, called 'O'...but tickets are way expensive. Gonna ask the concierge for tips...

Loked up Criss Angel's show, not sure he's opening yet, as of March 2008??

In Spite of said it opens in the Fall. I have never been disappointed by a Cirque show, it is worth the money IMO. Never hurts to ask for freebies from the Casino's though.

I agree that arguing whether or nor he can do this or that, is it fake, is it real, causes us deniers to have to find information that exposes the tricks. That was never my intention. I really don't want to spoil the magic.

I have to disagree about closing this thread. I feel he's worth discussing from time to time, as he's still actively performing and there's much more to come. I don't think the puzzzle's been solved. It'd be a shame to kill such a long thread!

How is he able to convince so many that he's a supernatural being? That in itself poses many questions. Whether or not it was his original intention to qualify for this position, he's very much aware this is the image he's created. Unlike most celebrities who play up one image at a time, he has several going on! I find that intriguing. He knows he causes these debates. He may not want his tricks exposed, but I think he wants to maintain all the cofusion about him
