'Christian' adoption agency rejects Catholics

Helping kids is helping kids no matter the faith. That is where some segments of Christianity have gone way astray. Jesus shudders about this type of activity, and if you are a true Christian you should shudder also.

And so there you have it - Jake's version of who are worthy
and qualified parents and those who aren't. Those that qualify are
only those who worship God exactly like Jake thinks He should
be worshipped.

- The one billion Catholics on this planet are not qualified to raise children.
- The four billion other humans on this planet, who are not Christian, are
not qualified to raise children.
- That leaves one billion protestants. How many of them are qualified
and worthy to be parents under Jake's idea of right and wrong worship?
Gotta' dump the Episcopals and the Orthodox... they believe in the
Eucharist and that Saints in heaven do pray to God for others.
Lutherans? Gee ... some pray the rosary and are they actually 'born
again' enough? Best dump them ... gotta' be careful about this ya' know.
Church of Christ? Well, they don't allow singing or musical instruments
in their worship, to do so means you are hell bound they say, so gotta'
dump all of them because that obviously isn't biblical. All Jehovah's
Witness', all Mormons, and all Salvation Army folks ... don't even bother
trying to raise children because you aren't qualified. and so on, and
so on, yada yada yada.

- Which leaves us with probably one or two million christian
fundamentalists out of 6 billion people on this planet that
are worthy or capable of being parents by Jake's
standards. This is PATHETIC and sick thinking.

That statement is pure double speak. Did Christ not preach unity and we are all one?

If one has to go to various scriptures everytime Christ makes a statement to understand what he says there is a problem. One must understand Christ's words in what it means to the individual. We are all one, and Christ himself stated he is the "light" which runs thru all.

man i know im gonna catch holy heck for this one but here goes....could it be that its not the catholic parents they are worried about, but the catholic priests that have been in the media for the past few yrs due to child molestation charges. Maybe they are just trying to keep them away from the priests, not the parents. Ok let the flaming of my butt commence.

Catholics claim to worship Christ, yet do not follow his word. Purgatory does not appear in the Bible, nor does the act of Praying to Mary.
Christian organizations have the right to cater to only other Christians. It's the whole point of a "Christian" group. Should whites be catered to by the NAACP? or Christians by Jewish groups? It gets rediculous, I mean all of the jealousy going around. Atheists and gays and girls wanting to join the Boy Scouts of America, which was started as a Christian group for BOYS. If girls want a group, they have them, as do gays, and atheists.

I'm gonna disagree whole-heartly with this. The fact that there is an exclusive organization in the first place is wrong because it is NOT what Jesus taught nor practiced. He hung out with a prostitute, a tax collector, a zealot, need we go on? Those were the people who needed his teachings the most, not he Pharisees who thought they knew all about the law in their self-righteousness and pride, declaring that they were the only ones who will be with God.

No organization is allowed to be exclusive to its own kind.

They didnt need Jesus Christ to give them kids. They needed the TRUTH that Jesus Christ is the ONLY means of salvation. The ONLY mediator between man and God. The ONLY HOPE.

Absolutely. And the proper perspective is this ...

If they want to adopt out only to 'their own'... that's fine.
If they want PUBLIC MONEY, then it is not fine.

And yes Muslims, JWs, Mormons, Catholics, Hindus, Jews, etc.
are all CAPABLE of proper parenting and if an adoption agency
doesn't want to adopt to them, then they shouldn't expect to
receive any PUBLIC funds from the sale of state liscence plates.

'Proper perspective'. Amazing. Since you feel that only
Fundamentalist Christians are capable of being proper parents,
then it's definately YOU that has lost the proper perspective Jake.

Thats just it.

The money was given freely and then accepted freely.
The policy of the agency was in place well before the money changed hands.

The fundamentals of the bible teach that we are not to bow or lift up anyone but Christ or God.
Why did PUBLIC money get DONTATED to them in the first place? This was done by a politician? A govt agent?

Being a catholic...will the catholic church let their place be used, and let their priest officiate a wedding between a catholic woman and lets say...a jewish or muslim man? I cant remember their rules...but they do have them. Something about only within the religion

Catholics and non Catholics are allowed to be married in the Catholic
Church. This is not only 'allowed' but it happens all the time.
My mother was Lutheran. She married my father, a Catholic, in the
Catholic church. My best friend Sylvia is Catholic. She married her
husband, a Jewish man, in the Catholic church.

Sometimes during the wedding not only will the Catholic priest stand
up to do the officiating, but a protestant minister, or a Jewish Rabbi
(or whoever) will be standing with him and will take part in the
ceremony if one of the two people being married is not Catholic
and wants their minister, rabbi, (or whatever) to be involved in
the ceremony.

Edited to add - if the marriage ceremony takes place in a jewish
synagog or a protestant church, then the priest will go to that
House of Worship and stand up with the minister or rabbi in
their House of Worship. This is allowed and happens as well.

Pre Vatican II DISCOURAGED inter-religious marriages.
It was discouraged, but there were no demands put upon
Catholics not to marry people of other faiths. The reason
for the discouragement was that it was confusing for the
children, to have parents going to different churches. The
Catholic Church PREFERS that the parents be of the same
religion, but it is not required.

I also forgot - my husband's parents - My mother in law is
episcopalian and my father in law is Catholic. They have been
married 50 years and they were married in the Catholic Church
with a Catholic priest and an Episcopalian minister.

My parents - mom is Lutheran, dad is Catholic, have been
married 45 years and were married in the Catholic church.

So those two marriages go back almost half a century ...
it was allowed then and it's allowed now.
