Scotland Yard has just confirmed that the suspected mastermind responsible for last weeks bombings in London is now in custody in Cairo Egypt. British authorities however did not release his name at this time.

www.sky.com
Scotland Yard has confirmed reports that a man has been arrested in Egypt in connection with the London terror bombs hunt.

The suspect, believed to have had a central role in making the explosive devices, was held near Cairo and was being questioned, the American television company ABC reported.

The network said authorities believed the man had left Britain two weeks before the London explosions on July 7.

The report said authorities were eager to learn whether more than one bomb-maker had been involved and whether more bombs had been made.

Please visit the link provided for the complete story.

If true this is very good news.

Very few details are available at this time since the story is just breaking at this time.

Yahoo News

Police in Egypt on Friday arrested an Egyptian biochemist who studied in the United States, and authorities investigated a possible link between al-Qaida and the suicide team that carried out the London bombings, officials said.

Magdy el-Nashar, 33, was arrested early Friday, the Egyptian official said, speaking on condition of anonymity because an official announcement of the information had not yet been made. El-Nashar, who studied at North Carolina State and Leeds University, was being interrogated by Egyptian authorities, the official said.

Metropolitan Police in London said a man has been arrested in Cairo, but they would not confirm his name or characterize him as a suspect.

British and FBI officials were looking for el-Nashar, who recently had been teaching chemistry at Leeds University, north of London. The Times of London said el-Nashar was thought to have rented one of the homes police searched in Leeds in a series of raids Tuesday. Neighbors reported el-Nashar recently left Britain, saying he had a visa problem, the newspaper said.

Also, a member on ATS has checked and he was a member of Leeds University.

If you search of google, you find the information, but when you click on the links to go to Leeds University, all information has been removed.

They will be making a statement in due course i believe.

I think another disconcerting fact is his post graduate work in Biochem and Microbiology. I'm surprised (or do we know???) that some form of bio/chem warfare wasn't incorporated into the blasts themselves.

He also attended school at North Carolina State University in the U.S.:

Would we know if there was a biological agent in the explosives? We might only find out in a few weeks if there was something like anthrax added. Yahoo says he was teaching chemistry, but obviously he was a microbiologist not a chemist...

Pretty amazing that when 19 terrorists attack the USA, we go to war with countries that had nothing to do with it and proclaim we'll capture the 'evil doers'... without ever finding the people that did it to us.

And when 4 terrorists bomb London, they capture a 5th man "out of thin air" in another country.

Even with London's CCTV, I find it difficult to believe that these 4 terrorists were "that" sloppy to link another man in another country at an unknown address and have him captured within a matter of 1 week. And 19 terrorists in the USA incident were "that" clean and professional to not leave ANY tracks.

QuietSoul,

the difference might be that the Brits actually want to capture the bombers, not use them as an excuse to invade the middle east. This is just normal police work, tracking down the leads and connected parties. Something that was never done after 911, because the Bin Laden family was protected from the investigation.

Apples or oranges?
Interesting you assert such, is it not?
Did not the "Brits" join the Coalition right beside the US?
Did not the "Brits" go to war right alongside the US?
Did not the "Brits" push for war, right alongside the US?
Your point is flawed and irrelevant.

Ok theyve found it, have they shot it yet? These terrorists are not even people, they should have no rights and as soon as they prove that this 'man' was responsible, shoot him, simple. Rid the world of the evil .

Why? The invasion of the middle east has been accomplished, has it not?

This time there can be a real investigation and the perpetrators brought to justice.

Reportedly el Nasher is denying any involvement in the London attacks.

Also, there's some confusion as to when he was apprehended with some Egyptian sources saying today and others saying he was being questioned for several days.

I know it sounds sick, but these terrorists really are scum, they have plotted to kill innocents and we let them live, it doesnt make any sense. If we get rid of them it does the entire world a favor.

It could be that the Brit's are just better at this type of investigation, they've had decades to hone their skills at it.
