Photos are taken from satellite and airplane. I think the locations that have been shot by airplane produce a better picture. I think South and Central America have crappy resolution. I tried looking at San Salvador and you cant even see whats on the streets.
I found for best pictures you have to stay in North America and Europe. I'm sure there are exceptions, but thats what I've experienced.

I had to look in a Iraqi tourist map to find out what this is. It is the unknown solder monument.

I have no Idea what this is.

I was messing around on Google maps for a while a few days ago and I came upon the capitol of the U.S. I'm too lazy to take a screenshot but if you check it out for yourself why is it blurred out right around the capitol building?

It is blurry around the White House?

I'll get a screen shot and post it.

Well I meant the capitol building but here is the whitehouse. Why do those two buildings on the sides seem to have been "digitally altered"? (the roofs aren't quite right)

And this is the capitol, I believe.

I see what you mean. They looked like they were 'painted' over.
Also is the White House supposed to be brown and flat on the top?

Also South East of the White House is this building.

It is all blurred out...

Edit: Oh you just stuck this one in there
