A home made device exploded, injuring a policeman while being examined by bomb disposal teams in Barcelona earlier today. The incident occured at the Italian Cultural Institute in the town.

news.bbc.co.uk
A small blast at the Italian Cultural Institute in the Spanish city of Barcelona has lightly injured a policeman and killed a sniffer dog.
The blast happened as a bomb disposal team was examining a suspicious metal coffee pot which staff had spotted at the building's entrance on Tuesday.

The Italian foreign ministry described it as a home-made bomb.

It is no where near the magnitude of the Madrid attacks and London bombings, I seriously doubt it is part of the same group but perhaps an individual's attempt at terrorising people in light of recent events.

Sounds like some nutcase wanting to strike while the world is on alert, and failing miserably. I'll expect a few more of these soon.

Is this ETA related?

they bombed a power station, could be a multi-attack?

with even the slightest, weakest blast, anyone can get worldwide media coverage. People and the Media and the elite start getting on edge..a simple bomb can kill a Hollywood mogul just as easily as a blue collar worker. Media starts looking for more stories, and even a cherry bomb flushed down a mall toilet becomes a worldwide event.

It doesn't seem anyone has made the connection to the Italian Cultural Institute yet. That website by that secret society of Al'Queda in Europe, or whatever the heck they call themselves, said that Italy and the Danish would be the next targets if they didn't pull their troops. Naturally, Italian security is heightened in Italy, but Spain's seems pretty lax. Our embassies are attacked to make a point to America, why shouldn't the same be assumed here?
