A terrorist attack in Lebanon killed at least two people and wounded 12 more, including the pro-Syrian outgoing Deputy Prime Minister Elias Murr. This represents the first attack in recent memory against a pro-Syrian politician in Lebanon. Lebanese officials say the attack will not affect the formation of a new government.

BEIRUT, Lebanon (CNN) -- A powerful explosion -- heard miles away -- tore through a Christian neighborhood in northern Beirut, killing at least two people and wounding 12 others, including Lebanon's outgoing deputy prime minister Elias Murr.

According to a general with the Lebanese Army, Murr's injuries were not life-threatening and were suffered when a car bomb detonated as his convoy passed.

Murr is also the country's acting defense minister and is a former interior minister.

Hopefully attacks like this will end in Lebanon as the newly formed government free of Syrian influence take over. I wonder who would be behind such of an attack now though, since this pro-Syrian government is already on the way out.
