And now we have opened the door for China and Asia to take away our jobs.

Got news for all of you from the US, go to college, get a degree or two even, there will be no good production jobs around by 2009, just word to the Wise.

You know when the North American Free Trade Agreement was first being discussed I loved it.

After watching it crumble into a parody of the idea it sprang from it makes me sick...

I have had to lay off some of the best workers in the world, because at my former job we were INSTRUCTED to cut cost by 30% on assemblies and go outside of the US. Well guess what, 30% is about the cost of the average labor on these parts, so of course Mexico come in aggressive and over my head (to my VP at the time) and the decision was made for me.


NAFTA must die, and die soon, we need to tariff all incoming product just like everyone does to us.

it is SERIOUSLY hurting us and helping other countries out. our jobs go there and they give nothing back. our money go into other countries basically and stays there! not a very wise investment....

NAFTA was suppose to be some wonderful thing for everyone and it is, for everyone outside of america and corporations inside america. they found the perfect excuse to outsource numerous jobs outside our borders. after all why should they pay someone X amount of dollars per hour that is probably in a union which ensures their people get benefits like health and dental insurance and more than likely a 401K. the execs cant stand this so they send jobs outsode of the US for pennies on the dollar (sometimes literally!) and give themselves raises more vacation time and huge bonuses while the people who got them to where they are are thrown out onto the street having to look for a new career they never thinking life would be this way. and it gets worse every years. more and more companies are finding ways to outsource as many jobs as possible.

although i did work for a danish company that came here to the states and actually found a way to make a profit while shelling out big bucks for the whole operation. sondex rocks! lol

anyway nafta sucks for us americans in general and does us no good and needs to be fixed ASAP.

Ironically what NAFTA was was the Lib's attempt to convert high dollar republican conservatives to the democratic side of the ball, conversly, it didn't work. Now let's fry this thing now!

The whole scam of people shipping thier jobs to Mexico is that US companies cry that rising costs in the US means they cant compete with cheaper products.

But if you look at the prices of the finished product, the product still costs the same. the factory In say Iowa moves its operations, letts say, making microwaves, to Mexico. They paid the Iowa workers 10 bucks an hour, the Mexicans, only 2 bucks an hour. So, you would think, since they have a drastic cut in labor costs, the price of the product would go down as well.

Which we all know that it doesnt,. because the price before and after the product making gets shipped to Mexico stays the same, giving a higher profit margin to the CEOs and investors, yet the product is no more cheaper or more competitive than it was when made in the USA.

Thus, NAFTA means big fat cats getting fatter, more unemployed Americans, and perhaps, lower product quality because the laborers are basically mostlyilliterate hired slaves.

I run a company, and it does change your cost and sell point, if I sell computer boards at $700 a piece right now, and my customer wants them at $500, I have to make it happen.
Not only do I have to lower my cost (most important) I have to lower my unnecessary overhead.

I have seen no signifigant price decrease in Ford autos, yet many of thier cars are made in Mexico.

For business related stuff, im sure, for companies buying products en masse from other cpmpanies, im sure they get big price cuts.

For the consumer, the price remains the same. Maytag wahsers made in mexico still cost the same as when they were made in the US.

The company I used to work closed our plant and sent the jobs to mexico. Yet the costs of products remained the same, ultimately. because while they may have lowered thier price (we manufactured nameplats, hazard stickers, circuitboard membranes, interface panels, injection molded pieces, ect), the companies, getting a cheaper product to make thier products with, have not. We made parts for TVs, remote controls, heart minotors, ect. Do you see any price decrease in these?
