I see Honest Abe has the lead.
As it should be. (In hindesight)

Sad to see Grandma Bailey has no votes. That woman deserves them all!

But even I voted for Lincoln. I just had to.

I will not vote in order to avoid the appearance of impropriety, even though I did make a nomination. Someone else can check the count if they so desire.

Grady, you have to vote. Just because you started the thread or nominated someone does not mean you can't vote. It's not unethical. If you were running for office, you'd vote for yourself, wouldn't you? There's nothing wrong about that.

I will retain the right to vote in the event of a tie.

I was really debating between JFK and Lincoln, but I always remember John F Kennedy saying, "ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country." But again, tough choice to make.

Abraham Lincoln, although only by a whisker over JFK.

Have you ever read Lincoln's House Divided speech? If not, you should.

Grady,
Is there any other way that we can advertise our "little" vote for poll here? ECK, maybe you might have some ideas about it?

I know that we have brought this up before not only here, but in the nominations.

Thanks in advance and I apologize if I am being redundant.

Oh, and when are you guys closing the vote?

Wait, (edit) I see George Washington is not on the possible voting list??
This seems odd, but oh well its your poll.

I would vote for Ronald Reagan then, please.

There was a thread that was open for about a week or two to let people nominate their favorites. Not many people showed up, and Washington was never nominated.

That's a different George Washington, Odium. The one nominated was an african american agrigcultural genius. The only reason I point out he's black is because he was able to change the world in a time when his race was expected to be picking the cotton, not developing new ways to farm it.

Ohh, fair enough...

I really should stop posting on ATS after 4am.

Thank you for that correction.

I had a link in my sig, but we had a long run of sig-lessness. Maybe if everyone just put a link to the poll in their sig that would help. We have planned to keep the poll open for one more week.

Here's the code. Just leave out the asterisk:

So what's the vote count now?

I need to see if I can somehow get this poll featured....

It's a great thread.

The people are apathetic!

We have a write-in vote, but I am reluctant to recognize write-in votes. We had a nominating process to prevent the vote from getting out of hand and becoming too unwieldy because we have no digital means to carry out the event. Remember, this is a "wildcat" poll and we don't have much in the way of technology beyond a pen and a pad.

What think ye?
