An interesting side note about Oxycontin: about a year or two ago, the pharmacies on the east coast were putting signs in their windows saying that they didn't stock Oxycontin. There was such a high rate of armed robberies by addicts trying to score this LEGAL drug, that pharmacies were afraid to stock it, because they didn't want to be robbed. Was there a government outcry to make it illegal? Yeah, right! It is a schedule II drug, which means that it is less dangerous than marijuana, even though it is as addictive as heroin. Nano particles that are 5,000 times as small as a human hair, carrying an experimental anti-cancer agent, kill human melanoma and drug-resistant breast cancer cells growing in lab cultures. The discovery could lead to the development of a new generation of anti-cancer drugs that are safer and more effective than conventional chemotherapy agents, researchers suggested.

By that you mean then all drugs you currently get off the counter or by perscription today?? Coffee, Tea, Alcohol and Cigarettes - All legal DRUGS. or are you referring to Drugs which are being misused or drugs that are not legal but are a potential medical breakthrough (or re-descovered, Huh). Please can your querstion be a little clearer.

To be honest hears my take on illegal drugs - No, they should not be legalized for everyone. Drugs has turned into a dirty word yet, due to people abusing them. Most illegal drugs do have medical uses but it is the people abusing them that has gieven them bad press.

I do however agree with people being allowed a medical licence to use and possess these drugs, IF it will benefit them medically.

Hi,
Thanks for such a useful and interesting article and information.
I think something that is this addictive, and disabling, would make them go out and get a job to get it if it were legal?Legalisation would just make more problems, you would have people who are addicted to drugs, who do not want to earn the money to get the drugs they are addicted to,breaking into houses, carsetc., all over the place while people are at work,to sell it on the streets or use it themselves.

A drug, broadly speaking, is any chemical substance that, when absorbed into the body of a living organism, alters normal bodily function.[5] There is no single, precise definition, as there are different meanings in medicine, government regulations, and colloquial usage.

If it was legal, you could put an age limit on it, a doctors perscription, and it wouldnt manner anyway, cause who would fluck themselves up on P, when you could get weed much cheaper and easier. And along with legality you could put more money into drug education, money gotten from the takes on drugs.

Just a couple extra points that PM didnt make.

You forget that when business becomes involved, profit is the only thing that counts. Tabaco is a perfect example. Do you suggest making drugs available on a prescription basis? What will people do when they want something harder but the doc won't give it to them?

that's the beauty of the free market! competition keeps the prices down and quality up. i say yay! they should also be tax deductible and covered under Obama's health plan! in the slim chance that he meant it that is.

seriously though, i read recently that you're 800x more likely to die from prescription drugs than illegal ones. next to pharma, nicotine and alcohol make weed and coc aine look healthy! plus it would put the bush family drug operation out of business!

I agree that drug addicts are not criminals, but they become criminals only because of the use of drugs!

It wouldn’t surprise me if the mints contained more c affine than they claimed, but it’s not the kid’s fault. I guess kids are just a great target. If you endanger their lives and future no one protects them.

legalize everything, moderate use of drugs does absolutely no harm..synthetics versions could be regulated for potency and keep out the absolute garbage people put in there also to bulk it up.Moderation moderation moderation is the key! The one drug that trumps all others put together as a detriment to society is alcohol, yet it is sold in practically every shop..ridicolous.

Legalize anything that comes from mother nature without ANY chemical process afterward and let people decide what to use.

Marijuana and mushrooms for instance. They're legal here
. Alcohol is drug nr1 in the world, and since that uses a chemical process it should be banned. It's a lot more damaging to the body than smoking weed, pure without tobacco.

Anyway, it's more about temperance than about what drug. Use any drug too much and it messes with your life.

yes and institute a rehab program that is more than fake drugs. I mean really ween people off drugs. I say the country is not hitlers playground. Yet to succeed and live, i cant be totally doped up all the time. So i have to gain balance of mind and life to defeat the habit, this is what should be taught in a free society.

unless of course with the military and police eager to fight something..all the time frustratingly enough. I doubt they would let americans have hash bars and mushroom shops. Which would be the non addictive forms of drugs likely decriminalised if ever.

Although the Native American Church in NM receives barrels of mushrooms per month for its ritual use of psychedelics. Theres a reason God or aliens gave us drugs to use. Theres a reason parents of 16 year olds in the jungle, mix up a bunch of psychedelics and psychotropics for ritual manhood quests.

Its not dangerous, the government control is. Just look at the people who went to grateful dead concerts only to end up in prison for the whim of a fat socialist pig who "didnt like that activity"

Hey pigs, deal with it, it america, not nazi heaven. get **cked control freakos. yeah you.

Since prohibition is such a failure, I think legalization should be givin a try. Drugs are a Public Health issue and not a criminal issue IMO. It would be complicated to get started but the billions saved from the drug war would make up for it soon enough.

sure but thats why you become more inventive and accomodating to the facts, not deny them and fill jails to an insane level with non violent offenders while the violent run free to give the news man something to do. Interesting cycle.

See drugs arent bad, people are. Ive done a plethora of things in life, i dont rob or steal. im not a criminal. ive always worked, paid my bills. But i dont stand by and allow myself to be stepped on by a bunch of thug anti drug liars who just want more government funding to oppress the reactionary who are already oppressed and reacting because of that.

So its all about defeating a persons current psychology, not by force but by showing them the reality. A gangster crackheads will not get it, he/she will act crazy. until the calmness allows them to see what i mean about self control. This should be the goal damnit, not more oppression and jails.

Governments and people in mass, assume too much. grow the F up humanity and control your own selves.
