With the first hurricane of the season, Dennis, lurking off shore, I was inspired to write a bit. Not anything great but something on my mind that needed an outlet.

Drills are humming
Hammers are pounding
Table saws are buzzing
Sounds of storm preparations abound

Swirling masses of clouds
Gusty wind blows
Fleeting rain teases
A hurricane approaches town

Anxiousness comes
Nerves on edge
The waiting and watching
Has now begun

Stepping outside
Leaving the comforts inside
Just to glance
The awesome power of nature as it rides

Blowing thru fast
The winds increase
The teasing rain has no cease
Back inside to seek reprieve

But reprieve is yet to come
Nature has yet to show us it might
For many this will be a very long night.

Daylight is far from approach
As sounds of destruction encroach
Outside we hear the sounds we fear
Not knowing, makes us scared

Beeps and alerts lulls us to sleep
But sleep is short and never sweet
Not while Nature rages on
And the entity called a Hurricane marches on.

I can't help myself...writing has always been an outlet for me when I am worried and/or stressed. My thoughts and prayers are with anyone who has ever be in the direct path of any hurricane, but today they are with those who will have to meet Hurricane Dennis.
.....................................................

It is the nature of the beast
To bring destruction upon
Wherever it sets it feet.
The red eye takes aim
Scanning the coast
To which area will play host
Spinning madly, it dances
Spreading arms out wide
Reaching to touch
As many as it can
We see it’s fingers in the sky
Feel it’s breath in the breeze
Feel it’s spittle as it roars
Even the animals know
What is about to come
For we have all seen
The likes of this beast before
And we know the danger
We will have to endure.
