This is realy exciting! I hope this gets out to people and they can get whatever testing they need... If there continue to be no side effects this will be wonderful

The only pitfall to this is that it sounds like the person who has the drug on board can still transmit the disease. As we saw in SF, as the ability of combination therapy to nearly halt the progression of symptoms, what one of the ID guys at work calls the "Majic Johnson" effect infection rates went up as safe sex practices were dropped.

If effective this drug will have to be coupled with broad based community education esp in under-developed countries or the numbers of infected will continue to rise.

Another potential pitfall..
If there are truly minimal side effects.
I can already see a potential black market for this, as
an Aids Control Pill..Like a birth control pill, in a way..

Allowing the user to feel more confident in having unprotected sex..
