I obviously havn't watched the video yet, but reading the BBC article it just says what I already did. If nothing else Al Qaeda (I know I've spelt it many different ways btw) is at least a powerful symbol.

Regardless of this there are still fanatics out there carrying out these atrocities and they must be defeated, or at least we must not give into them.

Even if the media/goverenment have elaborated on this, maybe they are just giving us a face and name for us to fight against to keep morale up If they portrayed the enemy as faceless then they would seem even more indimidating and they would have even more power over us which is what they want. By creating a name and face for them this will help us from a psycological point of view in a difficult war.

Maybe the conspiracy goes no further than that.

Maybe the real hideous truth is that there is no real grand scale organisation and destroying and killing 1,2,3 or more people is not going to make the problem go away. Maybe there are pockets of people out there who allegedly follow some form of faith or belief and are intent on destroying our way of life. Todays events, if not all suicide bombs, could have been carried out with as little as 3/4 people, maybe even less depending on the methods used. The WTC took hundreds/thousands of people and years to complete, yet only took about a dozen people and a couple hours to destroy. That's scary...
Claming teh governement is the cowards way out, and I don;t blame you because to be able to blame an institution, or face or organisation is easy and gives you a target to fight against.

However the truth is far, far more scary and far more simple than that I fear.
