SEN. SCHUMER CAUGHT ON CELLPHONE: 'WE ARE GOING TO WAR' OVER SUPREME COURT

**Exclusive**

Senate Judiciary Committee member Chuck Schumer got busy plotting away on the cellphone aboard a Washington, DC-New York Amtrak -- plotting Democrat strategy for the upcoming Supreme Court battle.

Schumer promised a fight over whoever the President’s nominee was: “It's not about an individual judge… It's about how it affects the overall makeup of the court.”

The chairman of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee was overheard on a long cellphone conversation with an unknown political ally, and the DRUDGE REPORT was there!

Schumer proudly declared: “We are contemplating how we are going to go to war over this.”

Schumer went on to say how hard it was to predict how a Supreme Court justice would turn out: “Even William Rehnquist is more moderate than they expected. The only ones that resulted how they predicted were [Antonin] Scalia and [Ruth Bader] Ginsburg. So most of the time they've gotten their picks wrong, and that's what we want to do to them again.”

Schumer later went on to mock the “Gang of 14” judicial filibuster deal and said it wasn’t relevant in the Supreme Court debate.

so is this whats all about, no matter who the individual is, afraid that it may affect the court decisions on a particular case? wat does he and others want? a moderate? a liberal? or conservative? Bush has the right to pick whoever he belileves for the job and the commitee can say no or yes if they do not believe the nominee is good for the job. not about wat views they have. its like saying im not voting yes because he or she is a conservative. i dont like conservatives. afraid that with a conservative elected the whole court leans to the right. in reality many conservatives follow the law and vote on the case base on wats right then about wat ideology they have, i even seen conservative judges who voted that looks moderate. even sometimes both sides liberal and conservative judges agree on some cases.

WTF?!?!?!? First it's Republicans laughing about how dems have no spine/kahounes(sp?)

"Democrats have no spine, nothing hanging between their legs. Look at how weak they are. What are they gonna do?"

But when they finally grow a pair republicans freak out.

"OH MY BUSH/GOD!!!! They finally grew a pair, what can we do? Run for the hills! Nuke Detroit/NYC/Chicago/LA!!! Eat babies!!!!"

So, you make fun of them for being weak, then when their spine grows in you freak out about how they are evil and need to be sacrificed to the great god Bush. Hypocrits as always.

so is this whats all about, no matter who the individual is,

Lets be realistic, the person that gets picked is almost surely going to be exactly the type of person that the Democrats and public are concerned about, an arch-conservative in the mould of scalia and rehquist. Doesn't really matter that bush hasn't nominated anyone yet, its almost unthinkable that he'll nomiate a moderate, even Day-O'Connor was right leaning.

@ James the Lesser

Man have you got it backwards (as usual). It is Republicans that are always looking for approval of Democrats and the media.

Republicans got to realize that they are in power and stop trying to cozy up to the dems and the media and do what is right. America loves strong leadership, and most would like the dems and the media (female dog) slapped.

My advice is nominate the most conservative pro-life candidate, my choice would be John Ashcroft, the when the Democrats try to filibuster him, use the Nuclear Option and make them cry like the whiners they are.

Or guess what they could do?

Act like adults and elect someone who will best serve the country instead of acting like small children - along with the rest of you.
