"DEBKAfile’s Exclusive Gulf sources report: The Saudi king Fahd’s condition has taken a turn for the worse in the last 24 hours after six weeks in hospital. Wednesday, July 6, his doctors decided to carry out a tracheotomy to help him breath. This procedure will be carried out in the next few hours.

Saudi official spokesmen claim the king is on the mend from a bout of pneumonia. But Wednesday, July 6, news of his deterioration spread through the oil kingdom and caused sharp drops on the Riyadh stock exchange."



This could be huge.

Who is next in line to become the Prince? Hopefully this does not cause an sort of uprising in the Kingdom. The last thing the middle east needs is any more turmoil.

The only bad thing about this (ify dies) is that the man next in line and a few men after him are as old or older than the current king. That is the problem with the Saudi royal family succession: Too many goddamn old traditional bastards who won't give a rats ass about their country's foreign policies. At least as much as some of the younger successors, who are like 5th and 6th in line.
