Tropical Weather Watch 2005

I hate to say it, but there's something else brewing in the Atlantic, I'm expecting a tropical depression by tomorrow or Monday...what would that be TD# 13?

you can see it here on the satellite map, it the one lower in the map, closer to the leeward islands that I'm wary about, the other looks as if it will stay in the Atlantic and away from the US mainland

Looks like 13 is becoming to disorganized to stay a depression. They've issued the last advisory on it.
BUT...you still have to watch it. Tropical depression 10 did the same thing. But TD 10 reformed into TD 12, TD 12 strengthened into Katrina.


Behind what's left of TD 13, is soon to be TD 14. The system is getting it's act together pretty quickly (it's actually absorbing another tropical low that came off of Africa). This one could be Lee in a couple of days.

I wonder how much more we can take, Katrina now, Who knows whats next, they are still repairing the damage in Florida from the last huricanne seasons 3 hits.

I bet Florida is next for a big one

I don't pretend to know a lot about weather, but those of you out there that do, is there any possibility of this thing hitting New England? I would think the Jet Stream would take it away if it were to take a NW turn, but stranger things have happened this year!!

currently all the models show Maria as staying out at sea and curving to the north well away from new england. I believe there is a front that will coming across the east coast that should influence that Maria to stay ocean bound.

There seems to be a low developing off of the southeast coast of Florida. There is another low east of that. And of course east of that is the hurricane.

Typhoon Nabi just made landfall in Japan.

A typhoon lashed southwestern Japan on Monday, creating nine-meter high waves, cutting power supplies and disrupting transport and work at oil refineries.

The Tropical Storm Risk Web site had classified Nabi as a Category 4 storm on an ascending scale of 1 to 5, the same category as Katrina, which hit the U.S. Gulf Coast last week. But later on Monday, it downgraded the storm to a Category 3.

Tropical Storm Nate is supposed to follow a path similar to Hurricane Maria, mainly affecting maritime interests, however Nate could have some affect on Bermuda.

Typhoon Nabi has just made a mess in Kagoshima, Kumamoto, Nagasaki and a few other cities in Japan. Nabi was a Cat.4, made landfall as Cat. 3 but is now a Cat. 1. Nabi is now heading for the city Pukuoka. Nabi will then go out to sea and gather strenght before continuing its predicted path which seems to be near Sapporo...

Very Preliminary Tracks for the most likely Depression forming off the coast of South Florida. Dr. Masters of Weatherunderground, thinks it could reach Tropical Storm status at some point as it hangs around the Florida coast.


It's been raining all weekend. It wasn't a total washout, but just wet since Friday night, local rainfall amounts should be 1-2 inches today with heavier rains by Wednesday. The ground is so saturated here that any heavy downpours will cause localized urban flooding.

It's amazing to watch the peak of Hurricane Season, the satellite imagery of Hurricane Maria, Tropical Storm Nate, ??Depression 16???, and a couple of waves. And not only is the Atlantic busy, obviously Talim and Nabi has the West Pacific almost completely under cloud cover.

Yep it's very busy right now in the Atlantic.

Soon to be 16 needs to be watched closely, especially if it crosses into the Gulf....
