Shouldn't we have a sticky for the Hurricane season?

There's a couple systems out there now, the first
Tropical Storm Cindy
looks like it'll hit Louisiana tomorrow. Not really a big deal.


The second storm bears watching.
By the next advisory, it should be tropical storm Dennis. This one looks like it'll be the first Hurricane of the season. It's way to early to know the track, but here's the forcasted track which will likely change many times over the next few days:


Bonnie, Charley, and Ivan from last year were at one point in the same area as this storm is right now and all three took different tracks. All three however did affect Florida. So Floridians.....s up.

Lil Question, when storms get upgraded to Hurricane status, do they also get a namechange?

When they get upgraded from a tropical depression to a storm they can named.

No, they keep their current name.
I.e. Tropical Storm Dennis might become Hurricane Dennis

Tropical Storm Dennis will become Hurricane Dennis.

Hurricane Dennis is not what I am looking forward next weekend, I was hoping to get a golf game on, but it looks so big, that even if South Florida doesn't get a direct hit and the eye stays to the west of us, it's looks like we'll be on the nasty wet side

I'm gona have to keep an eye out. and hope he doesn't pop one up.... (eye of hurricane, joke hahaha)

Just to update that huge tropical wave that came off of Africa....

The convection is not as impressive, but it's still holding it's own. There also appears to be a circulation trying to form. If it holds together for another 24 hours, we'll have to start watching it.

That wave is starting to get better organized...

THE TROPICAL WAVE LOCATED ABOUT 1250 MILES EAST OF THE LESSER
ANTILLES CONTINUES TO SHOW SIGNS OF ORGANIZATION....AND THIS SYSTEM
HAS THE POTENTIAL TO DEVELOP INTO A TROPICAL DEPRESSION DURING THE
NEXT DAY OR TWO AS IT MOVES WESTWARD AT 10 TO 15 MPH.

Emily would be it's name if it develops into a TS.

As of now the storm that will be named Emily looks as if it will be a problem as well...




It is still early but the path is relatively close to what Dennis took. It looks to be slightly north of Dennis so maybe it will avoid the cooler water upwelled by Dennis. The MRF model I look at hasn't picked this storm up yet so I have no idea what it is thinking as far as long term movement goes. Maybe that will update with the next run.

I'm saying east coast south carolina.

I don't think this ne is going gulf but the ones behind it... they may prove a problem

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 45 MPH... 75 KM/HR...WITH HIGHER

Well I have to predict that this one is going to be a Cat 5 and slam into Clearwater Florida on July 21.

Why?

Because it's named Emily, my Ex wifes name. She has done everything she could to ruin my life and since I am going to Clearwater on July 21 I would bet her Hurricane would wipe that city out. Anyways, if it happens I am suing for damages

I think this is aiming for the Keys again, after that......I don't know

Your satellite image has changed. Hot linking images from sites like the NHC and weather.com isn't a good idea because as they update their images so do the images in your post. And as is the case now the updated images have changed the value of your post. Just my 2 cents on that.

Now an additional note. Tropical depression 6 has formed off of the coast of Florida and there is something in the western Caribbean that will most likely become tropical depression 7 shortly.

Yeah, I knew it was going to change. But....
It's ok because we can watch soon to be TD 7 form and develop

I wonder if this one constitutes another record being broken, I had heard Franklin broke the record of being the earliest 6th named storm of the season.

Honestly I don't think Gert ever warranted being upgraded to a storm. The NHC is upgrading just about every marginal piece of crap that comes along. Take everything the NHC does with a grain of salt.
