an idea: "ATS banner contest"

I think it sounds like a good idea.

Looking through the wallpaper thread that was recently judged that certainly seemed to capture members imagination, produce some fantastic results and I think adds to the spirit of community that I notice so much here.

i just posted a link to this thread in the "gripe/help" tab of ATS...

hopefully, the "higher ups" will take some time to look it over...

Update- I've contacted EastCoastKid and Kano to get the ball rolling.

We'll get SkepticOverlord's go-ahead and hopefully have the contest started next week if all goes well.

I'm prepared to handle the submissions through my ats webmail and post them on photobucket for the judges to view.
All we need now is to get SO's approval for the use of the banners and a pannel of judges.

of course, the best answer (and one i would like to see), is that there will be a strict time limit...

i see, hopefully, that a PTS banner contest will start soon...

if it does start, i would like to, at least, see a BTS banner contest...

so, lets "get the ball moving" on this if the time calls for it...

Personally, it sounds like a great idea...And if the rest of the board is doing it, I don't see why we shouldn't

Two questions though....
A.) Would council staff be allowed to contribute banner images?
B.) Will it be difficult for each website to load their respective banners?

i will try to answer these questions:

A.) yes they could...

i don't see why not, they are members right???

just as long as the member does not plan to be a judge...

B.) with my dreamwever (i think i used this) experience, it should not be a problem...

Its moving along at a pretty fair pace. It's only been a week since TSA brought us the idea and I suspect that within another week the contest will be official and the judge pannel will be complete.

I still need a couple of judges by the way. U2U me if you are interested. There will be a perk of some kind for judges- maybe just applause, maybe something better. I'm not sure yet.

Sorry to come late and rain on the parade...

We're early in the stages of a complete "identity redesign" of the ATS websites. Rotating image banners (like on ATS now) will likely not be a part of the new design.
