an idea: "ATS banner contest"

who wants to see or take part in an "ATS banner contest"???

for those who do not know, an example of an ATS banner would be:




the "rules" of the contest would be simple:

- make a banner with any picture you want

- it must have the EXACT same "ATS logo" ("deny ignorance") as the other banners on ATS

- any ATS member can participate

- there will be a X number of winners

- the winners would have their banners hosted on ATS for everyone to see

so, who would like to see this???

I've suggested this a few times but it keeps getting shot down.

BTW, i have nothing against the ATS banners, but it would be cool to have some new ones...

I think it would be a blast. It's just that WOS or SO would need to provide everyone with the psd file of the logo so everyone could use it in their design. Also the logo needs to be in the exact same spot on all the images so that when you refresh the page the logo doesn't jump around.

I guess you could hold the contest and the winning images would have the logo and "red" blend on the right side added later by SO or WOS.

I've thoguht about this before, I believe kinglizard's way is the best to go, simply for conformity. Just make your banner the set size, the rest is easily done to ensure they all fit properly. I'd totally be up for this.

Could be fun. 'Course those of us who live in the states would have to be careful what photos we used to avoid an unwelcome visit.

A thought- would original artwork be acceptable, or should it be limited to photos? There's some great old stuff available in the public domain also.

If I count for anything, I will too, it will be fun.

I will even be a judge.

Ive always thought about this but never decided to ask about it.. im up for the idea it would be cool to have some new ones for a change but i doubt it will happen.

For BTS and P@ATS but not ATS.
For P@ATS you can have pictures of politicians from every country
For BTS you can have those pictures you can only see if you look past the picture

I like the idea.
I think maybe we should include a vote on another idea for a contest where the members of the ATS community can bet to see how long they see ALL can go without:
* making a one liner comment.
* quoting the post right above his.
* oh, and whether to disable that dern they see ALL overused ---->

Yeah...that would work for me.
Maybe we can tie this proposed contest in with the one I am proposing?

so, start making your best pictures

I'll talk to the PTS Council Member, EastCoastKid, and see if he believes it is within his authority to unilaterally recommend this contest to SkepticOverlord or whomever else may have the say-so to make it happen.
I'm pretty sure we can get a PTS banner contest going in fairly swift order.

The council agenda is a little, shall we say, preoccupied with certain questions, but I see no reason why that should stop us from pushing quality ideas like this one through for you .
