this is messed up.

is it not a liability issue for them if people cannot access the statements?

I would like to know why some can view it and some cannot.

This is sort of related, it would cause the same problem.

www.q-70.navy.mil...

very weird why some can get it to work though.

The reason is a simple one,

They have every right to exploit your privacy etc. when the disclaimer/privacy statement is considered to be "down." or forbidden.

Keep allowin your active-x to do the work for you while sleepy eyes will be the reason of your demise..

(wow that actually sounded really creepy)

I was just thinking, has anyone tried it, who has posted a message ?

Does it work before you post comments?

After you post comments?

(BTW the creepy line also rhymes)

This was an issue around the last election aswell.
There was no access to the Republican website or to George Bush website for people outside America (and some within). You could access the GOP site and there were no issues at all for any Democrate/Kerry or other party websites.
Still can't access:
www.gopconvention.com...
www.rnc.org...
www.georgewbush.com...

Bush website blocked outside US
news.bbc.co.uk...
Bush Web Site Bars Overseas Visitors
www.washingtonpost.com...

But really, should it be a surprise?
This is a government that demands you sign a 'Oath of loyalty' before you can entered their conventions. The same government which will put you in prison for not dobbing on your friend who smoked a spliff.

The same government who is 'lead' by a man that said :
"There ought to be limits to freedom."
-- In reference to the parody site gwbush.com, May 21, 1999

I said earlier in this thread that this DoD website is nothing but a scam. I wouldn't be surprised if they are logging data to find out via IPs and other info, which parts of America has the lowest/highest support for the war.

Really, there's no reason for this site. There's been independent sites built since day one which have been doing more good for the soldiers than the government has. This comes around during Bush's lowest approval rating yet and is full of propaganda which Nazi Germany was full of as it's War Machine was warming up (thou of course American patriotism can't possibly be compared with German patriotism in the 30's
)

I'd stay clear of it or use a anonymous proxy because they obviously only want American opinion on the war which means it's only going to be used for propaganda. Either they will censor posts so the troops ONLY get positive messages so they think America is supporting what they are doing or they are collecting information on which parts of America are most supportive of the war (or both).

It's probably a lotto for which ever state gives the least support gets the next bomb - i mean 'islamic attack'.

But why would people be able to post comments yet not view the other areas.

It doesnt make sense for them to host the privacy etc at another part of a website.

Only the privacy/disclaimer is on the east.defenselink.

plus this is not an issue of democrats or republicans, its for all of america !

Play dumb and email the web designer and ask why you can't access it.
Ask if he's checked the CHMOD on the 'east' folder on the defenselink.mil site because for some reason you can't access links which point to that folder via the east.defenselink.mil subdomain.

See what they say, could be the CHMOD isn't set right and they fix it or else they'll might slip up and expose some reasoning for their selective process.
