Can you say POLITICS?

Are you referring to republicans? I agree too.

lol

you're amusing.

there is no mention of republicans, conservatives or anything right wing and yet you cnstrue their post as saying such a thing against republicans only.

this assuming thing you do is very dangerous to your mind. it closes and keeps you ignorant.

sorry!

as you were colonel sheeple!

Yes, but look at the definitions and tell me that they both don't describe America:

Main Entry: democracy
Pronunciation: di-'m-kr&-sE
Function: noun
Inflected Form(s): plural -cies
Etymology: Middle French democratie, from Late Latin democratia, from Greek dEmokratia, from dEmos + -kratia -cracy
Date: 1576
1 a : government by the people; especially : rule of the majority b : a government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised by them directly or indirectly through a system of representation usually involving periodically held free elections

Main Entry: republic
Pronunciation: ri-'p&-blik
Function: noun
Etymology: French rpublique, from Middle French republique, from Latin respublica, from res thing, wealth + publica, feminine of publicus public -- more at REAL, PUBLIC
Date: 1604
1 a (1) : a government having a chief of state who is not a monarch and who in modern times is usually a president (2) : a political unit (as a nation) having such a form of government b (1) : a government in which supreme power resides in a body of citizens entitled to vote and is exercised by elected officers and representatives responsible to them and governing according to law (2) : a political unit (as a nation) having such a form of government c : a usually specified republican government of a political unit

The definitions are very close, when it comes to mention of the people and elections.
I think people have gotten the idea that we're a democracy because of that old "of the people, by the people, for the people" thing....which is a load of crap anyway.

Our founding fathers were mostly Libertarian.

1. One who advocates maximizing individual rights and minimizing the role of the state.
2. One who believes in free will.

I Humbly apoligise if I may sound naive at times,I know just enough to get myself in trouble.

You should try butting heads with the system, and you will find out what it actually is,I am still trying to classify, quantify, identify what IT is.

I am beginning to think the names they have given it are like a multiple choice test, where none of the answers are correct, just another distraction.

As an example, look right at the bottom end of the system.

Try to ask a judge or a lawyer exactly what type of courts operate in the US,take the answer and try to verify that the answer fits your research into the type of court system of legal systems in operation here, if you are lucky you may know a lawyer or judge personally and it will save you some time.

Other questions:
-what's with the gold fringe on the flag in the
courtrooms and other places?,what is it's
significance?.
-what are the Uniform Commercial codes?
-why is it that everyone seems to think that one MUST
have a lawyer to represent them?,from my reading,it is our system according to the constitution,but.........can you say monopoly on law?.

Hopefully these questions may force you to look more closely at other aspects of the "system",and maybe you can identify it.

The United states was created as a republic, but it hasn't been one for quite some time,I really do not know what it is.............?.

We do have the power to change the system, but most people are afraid of losing their @$$es and won't act,but the keepers of the system are the real losers if everyone were to stand up.

That's probably why it is such a mystery, how can you fight with something you can't identify?

No a republic can not be a democracy the two terms are exclusive although some of the processes of the two may be used by the other for example we use a democratic process to elect our represenatives. It boils down to this
Republic = a form of government that derives its power from the powers vested in it by the soveriegn INDIVIDUAL. In other words the government has no power that the private individual citizen does not have on his own.
Democracy = a form of government that derives its power from the whim of the goverened who exercise power as a group and not as individuals. In other words the government rules by majority opinion and individuals have no rights that the group has not assigned them.

A lynch mob is a democracy in a republic we have due process and defined limits to the power of government.
In a democracy the limits set on government are set only as long as the majority of people agree on them.
Even though we have the ability to alter our constitution the rights of the sovereign individual exist independent of the consititution. See thats the beauty of inaleinable rights people in Cuba have the same rights we do but their government removes those rights from them. Its all about the source of power guys!

It sounds as if you have taken your schooling seriously, and see things the way those in control would have you see them.

Our rights have been systematically removed for some time, they are almost non-existent.

If there was any individual sovereignty left ,you would be able to do a lot of things that cause no harm to others, but now those harmless things are illegal and will land you in jail or prison.

Read the dang constitution,if you can find the original one, then compare the rights you are supposed to have to the rights that you actually, legally can enjoy.

Go out into the world, push your "sovereignty" on someone, you will go to jail!.

There is no republican or democratic party, they both represent something called "the alliance",disguised as the two non-existent parties we are forced to choose between.

You can cast your vote if you think it will fix anything, but it won't,so really, how much "real power" can you honestly admit you have?.

It is called socialism.

Moku - Well, given the total control of industry and finance on US policies, even the term "republic" is inaccurate, as it translates to "the common good". "Plutocracy" is the technically correct term.

Well put Moku.

Also the statements flying about concerning who we are or what we are...

A Democratic-Republic:
per Meriam Webster

Democracy:
1 a : government by the people; especially : rule of the majority
b : a government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised by them directly or indirectly through a system of representation usually involving periodically held free elections
2 : a political unit that has a democratic government
3 capitalized : the principles and policies of the Democratic party in the U.S.
4 : the common people especially when constituting the source of political authority
5 : the absence of hereditary or arbitrary class distinctions or privileges

Republic:
1 a (1) : a government having a chief of state who is not a monarch and who in modern times is usually a president
(2) : a political unit (as a nation) having such a form of government
b (1) : a government in which supreme power resides in a body of citizens entitled to vote and is exercised by elected officers and representatives responsible to them and governing according to law
(2) : a political unit (as a nation) having such a form of government c : a usually specified republican government of a political unit
2 : a body of persons freely engaged in a specified activity
3 : a constituent political and territorial unit of the former nations of Czechoslovakia, the U.S.S.R., or Yugoslavia

Sounds like a very good blend of both, like a fine scotch or a cognac method brandy.

We are a Republic using a Democratic system of governance.

"...of the people by the people", if you noticed that was only mentioned on the democracy side. Just thought I'd point that out!!

We don't have the ability to alter anything. They do. Just as they have the right to alter the meaning of the existing amendments without even changing a word. (and they have)

Any similarity to a democracy or a republic is merely propaganda, IMO. Get arrested for something trivial and your entire perspective (on our system) changes. You then realize you don't really have any rights. You're at the mercy of these power freaks, and their only purpose is to destroy everything you've worked for. It's all about persecution.

I didnt say that that was the way things were folks What I described is the vision our Founding fathers laid out!!
Our rights have been taken away in plain sight and through subtle slight of hand,or mouth I should say! Lets re-define "the People" to mean "the government" but only in the 2nd amendment everywhere else it still means "the people"LOL!
We have not yet reached the point when the rest of America will wake up and understand that it matters not who you vote for because the same PHILOSOPHY will win reguardless. The cancer runs deep in the halls of acadaemia I am not talking some smoke filled room somewhere its right out in plain sight! Every year more parents send their kids away to college to learn facts but they are taught a way to think instead. THIS CUTS ACROSS ALL PARTIES RIGHT AND LEFT!!! Both sides of the same coin! The educated elite the Poly-sci majors are filtered out to produce a refined product an individual who knows whats best for you and me LORD knows we are to stupid to know for ourselves. This individual is courted by staffers and policy makers and becomes an unknowing cog in the ruling machine! He or she doesnt even know they are a part because they think they represent the "mainstream"
We have a long difficult road ahead and I am afraid it leads to a very bloody destination!
