You know when you get a splinter in your finger, well this is one of those things that shows the diverstiy of language. Where I come from this is called a 'spell'. Apparently it is also called a 'spelk' around these parts but I have never heard this before.

Some other 'local' words -

'Moy' - Face
'Jeer' - Bottom/Posterior
'Vanya' - Over there
'Lowp' - Jump
'Yam'/'Yem' - Home
'Marra' - Mate friend
'Stally' - Cigarette
'Hoss'/'Hoy' - Throw

Anyone else got any good examples of regional dialect.

Here in wisconsin people use the word bubbler for water fountain.
Though I have noticed it's rate decreasing, it is rarely used in most parts of the state.
