IE shuts down and throws me back to the desktop on some sites, with no warning or error message. I have a hunch it has to do with Java, but can't be sure.

Was wondering if anyone else experiences this as well. Especially if you use Trusted zone/Internet zone (Win2K), with different security settings for each. Basically I run any site I trust in the trusted zone, with active x and java all enabled, low security and permissions. But in the internet zone I disable everything except downloads.

This can even happen on a trusted site if the page I am trying to open contains an untrusted domain reference. It happens here at ATS every now and then. One example is this thread:

www.abovetopsecret.com...

If I click on it, *poof* IE shuts down and I am back at the desktop. Any ideas?

The only idea I have is--

Stop using IE!

Seriously, that browser is worth less than Robert Goulet's checking account.

Ya I agree stop using IE and get AdAware, avast! antivirus software and a better browser like Firefox, Mozilla Suite or Opera.
