I had a fairly lengthy u2u discussion with a friend today, part it concerning the General. I will now voice on the board along the same lines as I
discussed then.
First let me say that what bothers me about portions of the ATS community is the intolerance to each other's preferences. There are posters on here
who are 100%, tunnel vision, conspiracy freaks...DR, MA, CA...go figure, it's a conspiracy board! BUT, there are those of us who are not. I'm not.
I left for a couple of days last week because of the incessant talk of this board getting back to its sole intent (conspiracy) and I really can't
contribute much toward that. Probably less than 1% of my posts have anything to do with any conspiracy...and usually AGAINST the theory. So the
meter would be way down on comatose if it were left to me. BUT, I do believe I can bring something to the board that makes it more well-rounded.
Then there are those who engage in what others would consider inane banter...or pointless noise chats. For example, in my books, most of MBT's posts
fall into this. BUT, that's just MY opinion. And when all is considered, MBT helps the well-roundedness of this community.
Even FM brought something to this board...unfortunately, because he couldn't hold his temper or even conceive of reflecting on the other's side of
the discussion, his irritation outweighed the value he added...boot!
My whole rambling point is this, why can't those who are griping about the General, demanding he be banned, and in general not enjoying him, go away
from this and other General threads and leave the rest of the people who are enjoying this alone?
There is merit in entertainment. There is merit in just stepping back from the extreme seriousness every once in a while. I'm telling you, if you
don't throw in a little inane banter every once in awhile...you're going to find yourself mutilating your daughter's guinea pig because you think
its a spy! IT HAPPENS!
I just wish people could practice walking away from a thread they find offensive, and leave it for those who don't. Heck, let's do that in real
life too...ok?
