Who is deepthroat?

I just saw a discovery channel special about the Watergate scandal and they talked about the shadow person named deepthroat. He is a smoker, drinks scotch and meets with other government people in a parking garage to exchange information. Til today nobody knows who he is. Does anyone have some information about him?
