I believe you all are giving this creature more credit then it deserves. It is displaying the most basic of animal instinctual patterns. The reason it does not attack humans is that like almost every member of the animal kingdom they are afraid of us. Animals commonly fear that which they are not accustomed to and unless given no other choice animals do not attack the things they fear. Their first instinct is to run. This fits perfectly with most El Chubacabra sightings as it is often seen running away. I do not believe this thing is doing anything but attempting to survive.

Actually, you are not quite right there. One of the reasons the dodo is extinct, is that it evolved without very few to no predators, and did not recognize humans, pigs, cats, dogs or rats as something to be wary of.
It shows no fear, because it doesn't recognize us as something to be feared. It also doesn't recognize us as prey, for the most part. Just as in Africa, old and injured lions and leopards are more likely to be man eaters, I think the chupas that have sporatically attacked humans may be older, infirm and desperate for food.
Animals may have bad memories, but not as bad as say a 3 second lapse, and they do have an ability to learn. Especially when it comes to things that mean survival. They first, as a preditor may recognize another preditor, OR may be running from something that is larger than they are.. I haven't heard of cows and horses attacked by one of them, just sheep, goats, and other smaller animals.
Instinct may tell them to avoid larger creatures, no more than that. Something larger than you can possibly eat YOU, lol. Not a fear, mind you, but an instinct to avoid danger.
Also, they have learned that people have things that make loud noises, and bad smells (guns) and if you shoot a pellet gun at a squirrel enough times, you will not see a single one as soon as you appear with a gun in hand.
As for the picture, that looks like a cat skull to me. I did a quick image search, and pulled all the SA cats, except the jag, which had a skull that looked more like adogs skull than any kind of cat, lol.
That looks like a cat skull to me, and not anything near a chupacabra, lol.
A quick net search found these images. I picked out only the south american cat skulls, but no jaguars. The only jaguar skulls on this site looked like dog skulls.

When I first heard about the chupa, and saw it, the first thing that popped into my head way the movie Critters.

These things look more like the chupa than the jeepers creepers dude, I think.

has anyone heard that Puerto Rico was a government testing ground and chupacabras are an experiment by the U.S government??

Also when chupacabras were spotted in Puerto Rico they were said to leave no blood on the ground, but later on sometime there were cases a little further away in a Indian village were they said chupacabra attacked but slautered the animals and left blood everywere. (I personally think they wanted in on the publicity and slaughtered their own animals rather stupidly).

I swear I remember in the second movie them morphing together, and making a giant Criiter.
Could just be faulty wiring in the headset though.
I believe that there are many people that will do anything for attention, up to and including killing thier own livestock.
We know the hall marks of a chupa attack it the lack of blood in and around the prey beast. If there is blood, it wasn't a chupa.

Here is a thought.. I wonder if the chupas ARE escaped alien pets, if they would be the pets of whatever it is that is doing the animal mutilations.
Perhaps the chupas do the draining.

Hmm...there's something bothering me here.
I know I only skimmed this thread, so, correct me if I missed something:

They say in some cases the animal is just slashed open, and this is the little bit that confuses me. Do any of you recall those "Cattle Mutilations"? The cows who'd been split open from the inside? I was simply wondering if there had been any noted similarities between the cow carcasses (which are, apparently, what happens when you leave a dead cow in the sun for too long. They explode) and the Chupacabra-prey carcasses.

From what I have studied about the Chupacabra, I think is originated from underground in the very rough and isolated mountains in Puerto Rico. the mountains Im reffering to are in a remote region of PR and are completely covered and surrounded by dense jungle. These mountains are made of volcanic rock and are extremely porous, with countless deep caves and passages everywhere. Plenty of vines and vegetation also makes it to these caves and holes, possibly facilitating movement through them. Another factor to consider is that most of these caverns are about 100 feet off ground level and to get to them one has to climb steep wall-like cliffs.
I watched a documentary about an expedition into one of these caves, very eye-opening. They actually climbed up to one of the caves and it was absolutely eerie, and the environment up there made it easy to imagine something possibly living there.
These mountains are:
-Isolated and remote
-Essentially no human activity in or around that area
-Vast sheltered environment (massive cave system)
-Ample food supply (jungle below, small creatures tend to like hiding in caves= readily available food usually)

I definetly think this is where the Chupacabra come from.

theres something similiar to the mothmen of the n.e united states, beings from the planet draco nearby to our solar system called draco mothmen now i dont know if anyones mades the connection but chubacabras look like baby draco mothmen.
chubacabras are mainly in mexico/peurto rico u.f.o hotspot areas, personally i think the american government were trying to round up these beings but some escaped and maybe breeding, maybe they were invading us?

how do you know if they are from the planet draco and further more how do you know what the mothman looks like. or even the chupacabra for that matter? just wondering because if you know what either looks like with out a doubt i'd love to see pics or something to back up the claim. ya know?reply to post by TheMajestic

The government created the chupacabra in hopes that it could help them on the battle field, the only problem is they let it it on the battle field to test it and never thought of how they were going to get it back, so the chupacara escaped.

It is a mix between a badger, a bat (explains the fangs also) and i think the last one was a wolf?

The government doesn't like to take accountability for their actions, especially the really stupid ones. so instead of confessing to the people, they hide the truth. the reasons the USA scientists have 'misplaced' their data and DNA is because they don't want to be accountable, so they instead they make up a lie.

There are other websites, one specifically has a picture of the chupacabra in the field and then in the lab, they are two completely different skeletons. one is something like a dog and the field one is a chup. the scientist swapped it with a fake so they wouldn't have to tell what it really was. The government always hides the truth, its the reality we live in today. Which is another story about DR. Christopher. (the major herb specialist) he tells stories of what the government did to him in response to his curing cancer and other things. You should look it up, very interesting.

I completely believe in the chupacabra, if you go to Puerto Rico and ask the people they completely believe in the chupacarbra, America has no right to say that it is not real. we haven't seen it here so we wouldn't know. we cannot judge.

I apologize for diverting from the direction of the topic, but I've been playing with an idea.

First... I personally believe that the Chup is likely either a rare species or the result of some mutation from another creature, maybe even humanoid... and maybe the mutation wasn't natural - something hidden by the government? Roswell? Chernobyl? And I believe there there ARE more than one. Without a doubt.

Something I've noticed can be easily connected to the chupacabras is vampires. Strong, fast, agile, blood-suckers. Though the thought of a transformation resulting from being bitten does seem a tad ridiculous, I've never been bitten by one... so I suppose I can't vouch on that one

IF it was once human..

What if it is a gradual transformation, the end result being the monsters seen? Why do tests on hair or bones of the creature come back as unknown, and why are so many investigations so convieniently shut down due to "lost" evidence. Is something being hidden?

Mm... Maybe I should cut back on the Comics and Dean Koontz...

I believe that the chup is real. It possible that, with the varying accounts, there are more than one chup, and that it is an entire species. But the varying eyewitness accounts may easily be explained: the chup may have dragon-like wings, and when they are folded against it's body, the bones that support the wings may form spines. Also, the chups may also shed, which would explain people saying that it was bald or had short dark fur. The missing organs from being bitten in the midsection may also be explained. The chup's saliva could be like acid or poison, like in a spider. It could dissolve the organs and it sucks them up through his fangs. And for the chup "hypnotizing" animals or dogs, it could be some sort of gas it secretes when hunting or a by-product of breathing, like Co2 with humans. Or, it ( unlikely but possibly) does hypnotize them using mental abilities.
