I saw a movie about the first book several years ago, I enjoyed it. I don't agree with most of their interpretations of Revelation, but it was still an excellent movie. A former coworker of mine read these and absolutely loved them, and I hope to read them at some point, although I will probably wait until the series has been finished.

I have read all of them except the newest volume which is supposedlya prequel about Nicholae from when he was born up to the beggining of the first book. I enjoyed all of them very much; not what you would call great literature but well written non-the-less.

I dont lik4 anything that promotes Once Saved Always Saved... the "Left Behind " series are a way to explore peoples sick need to know what would happen to the "unsaved" .... why would you care about what happens if you're left behind when you're "guaranteed heaven " ???

I haven't finished the last book, but all in all I thought the series was right on...Not many series have the guts to ***POSSIBLE SPOILER*** Kill off a few main characters.
I looked at that prequel book..It's not for me. I started reading another one by one of the author's about an archaeologist that collects religious stuff but is not religious.....It's a good book...I will look up the title and post it later

What I don't understand is that they float up in the air and they leave their clothes behind.

That seems kind of odd to me, like their going to some big nudist convention in the sky and Jesus is going to be there. Wow! No thanks.

No they don't float up in the air nude. They get their new white robes that the book of revelations talks about. The left behind authors just did an instant transfer from earthly clothes to clothes for our transformed bodies.

I have read the original left behind series, and I believe it is good. It does get slow in different parts of the book. It is a good literalist translation from the book of revelations. The movie was not as near as good as the books in my opnion though.

Thank you for explaining that to me Mystery Lady.

I have a great deal of difficulty with the idea of a literalist translation of the Book of Rev which seems to me to be a very metaphorical work. I am aware that most christians do not believe in a literal rapture. I am not a chrisitan in any sense but to each his own. I may read one of these books just for fun though. I'm always interested in different ways of thinking and worshipping.

Those books have a lot of heresy in them. For instance, one character receives the Mark of the Beast but God still accepts him--and that's promoting a lie.

Revelation clearly states that whoever receives the mark is damned. Which says to me that you actually have a choice.

The book's authors are making a killing off promoting heresy.

If i recollect correctly, by the definition of the author, the character got the mark against his will. I believe that was the loophole so to speak.

All in all, I enjoyed the whole series. I consumed the books at a much faster rate than usual. At one point I had to d/l ebooks to read the ones that haven't arrived in the mail yet.

Is that what you really think? you think the writer was trying to explore a sick need to know?

I think it is more likely that he was trying to write a gripping story in the hopes that it might inspire those that arent sure if they will be left behind.

And if your wondering why anyone who knows that they are going would bother to worry about those left behind.. because yeshua (jesus in hebrew) said to love EVERYONE, which means loving those that would be left behind.. and putting in an honest effort to help them find the light of God before it was to late

Love the sinner, hate the sin

And the writter of this series obviously felt that his greatest gift in this world was his ability to write.. and he used that gift as best he could to write a story of HIS vision (Yes it is just his vision.. but a damn well written one), in the hopes that those who read it would stop and look at the condition of their own soul and give serious thought to where thye are going

I haven't had the privelege of reading all of them but i thought that it was a very good read. Its always nice to get another perspective in light of the book of revelations. One of the books that i read from the same author as the left behind series was called End Times. Its spanned across the pre-tribulation, tribulation, and post tribulation. Its was also an extremely good read and would recommend it to any one who likes the left behind series.
