Yes...it clearly states on the member application that ALL FREE Email accounts will be denied. This was very problematic for me getting into this site, for my main email is yahoo.

I understand the reason for this too. But it must have not been enforced back when I applied cause me and like 3 of my friends joined at around the same time and we all have hotmail and Yahoo accounts.....

Everyone should have a second chance. My two cents.

Really? No matter what they did or did not do?
"Everyone" is open-ended, as is the above quoted mention.

I disagree. "Everyone" should not be given a second chance.

I agree, not everyone. Some have gotten a second and screwed up. Some have done alright.

If they are contrite, to use a religious term. And if they adhere to whatever they must. If they get outta line after that, DESTROY them for ATS eternity.

Not aiming for a hijack, but seems pertitnant rather than dual thread ......... any mod care to ponder how I could re-apply WITH that same nik?
Something would have to be done server-side first, to take the nik out of denied status.

In my past experiences in seeing "second" and "third" chances given and denied, normal procedure for such would be to send a u2u or email to the site admins, such as SkepticOverlord or Simon or admins or those influencial super-mods [located on main page] and petition and 'grovel'/plead/admit wrong doing/etc for your membership to be reinstated. Normally, the entire staff will review such petitions. This is the procedure I would advocate for any member [past or future] that gets banned who is seeking or desiring to return to ATS.

There are two type bans: a general board ban and a IP ban. The procedure I mention above will cover for the general ban; IP bans, I am not sure of, Misfit.

No "grovel/plead/admit" to it.
As I explained earlier, it's a reading disorder that caused my lacking submission.
Hardly cause for a tribunal.

I guess its not long before i get banned too
...for over quoting and copy-pasting

What I mentioned was not exclusively reflecting your situation, Misfit.
I would simply make/submit a petition and ask for a staff review of the matter, if applicable.

Umm, no, StealthSpy. No ban seen or to be applied for what you mention.

What will occur though if you persist, is that I will personally find a 2x4 and give you a thump up side the head so that what I have been trying to tell you concerning this matter sinks in.

Just joking, but a virtual 2x4 is a valid thought though.

I am one of the very few who handle accepting/declining new member submissions.

There are three things which will get an automatic deny from me, and I urge all visitors reading this who have not registered to take this into account:

1. Not creating an introduction.
3. Creating a one-line introduction along the lines of saying "Hello" or "Just passing through, nothing to say."
2. Using the introduction space to promote a website.

The denial of membership is not permanent, users can re-apply at a later time.

Addition: SkepticOverlord is our all-seeing wise Information Technology Director. If there are more simple matters requiring assistance, U2U myself or a member of the staff. Let the Overlord have his freedom to tweak the board's software, not answer questions which should be passed to someone else.

SO wait...free e-mail accounts are auto-denied or they just will not accept these? Is that not a bit harsh? I mean I got on using hotmail but if you have to have a "paid" e-mail isn't that limiting membership of this forum down a lot?

I couldn't use any of my free e-mails accounts when I joind in 2-2004.
I ended up dusting off the email attached to my ISP.

I assume that is still in place.

I just signed up last week with a hotmail account. I think it is more along the introduction stuff that was mentioned, not the free email accounts.
