Not that it's that significant, but Politics @ ATS changed to just an IP address when clicked on for me. I also had to re-enter my password.

You have seen behind the magical curtain on how the Internet really works. You must all be eliminated.

Domain Name Service (DNS) does the magic of translating the URL to an ip address for you every time. You usually just don't see it. For instance type in 207.46.245.60 in the address bar of your browser and you'll end up at...MSNBC.com

My best guess is that PTS has been moved to a different IP and it's hard-coded until the DNS propigation is complete. That ususally takes 2 - 3 days.

I'm not getting any problems logging in.

I can log in but not navigate.
From myATS (in ATS) I can navigate the forums I have edited as ones I want to watch.

So, for those who can't log in, see if you can get in from your myATS page.

I U2U'd Thomas Crowne about it when I logged on today. He got in touch with Simon who said not to worry, SO is doing some DNS changes.

just a point to make here....
all those that were not worried about ATS revealing IP#s to the various American authorities due to the server being in the UK...

well, now you know the end to the story...

US server = US policy...

They actually host one of our three dedicated servers (soon to be four). Those IP's are for the sites on our primary web content server.
