this is good advice. Follow it and you could end up like this couple
Percy and Florence Arrowsmith married on June 1, 1925 and will celebrate their 80th anniversary on Wednesday.
The Guinness World Records said on Tuesday the couple held the title for the longest marriage and also for the oldest married couple's aggregate
age.
"I think we're very blessed," Florence, 100, told the BBC. "We still love one another, that's the most important part."
Asked for their secret, Florence said you must never be afraid to say "sorry".
"You must never go to sleep bad friends," she said, while Percy, 105, said his secret to marital bliss was just two words: "yes dear".

Yes dear is a great phrase. It works well for men and women. You just have to make sure to vary the tone now and then, so it doesn't sound the same
every time.
I love this quotation about marriage.
The Japanese have a word for it.
It's Judo -- the art of conquering by yielding.
The Western equivalent of judo is, 'Yes, dear.'

Some wedding advice (from a newlywed)...
1. Get one of those $30 planning organizers...they are a godsend...(well, the wife to be will probably be the major planner, but she'll love you for
this)
2. Buy things progressively throughout the months, years, leading up to the wedding. Definitely better than all at once...(things like favors,
ceremonial glasses, etc. etc. are easy to get early).
3. Know your theme, wedding idea. Define it early (colors, style, etc.) as everything else must fit that.
4. Set the date early. You want at least 6 months notice for a photographer, videographer, DJ, location reservation, etc. but preferably 6 months to
a year's notice.
5. Don't go cheap on either the photography or DJ. If you do, you'll be sorry, seen it too many times. I made the photography mistake (had a
co-worker who was a professional, but for some reason was off her game that day), but luckily the expensive DJ made the party. (and many of the
guests' photos were great).
I've got a ton of other advice on this, as it was quite a project...(did a medieval wedding, was featured on TLC's "A Wedding Story", etc.) Feel
free to contact me if you want more when you get closer to the day....

Congratulations!!1
So were you romantic or was it more like mine -- he said "Why don't we get married" I said "Why not" but you have to understand this was after 7
yrs of on and off dating but 27 yrs later we are still here together so I guess the romance isn't the important thing -- the asking is
I like that whole "Yes Dear" thing too bad I didn't teach DH that early on
