Thanks makeitso. I tried what you suggested, but at first I got an error, related to the fact that I had manually deleted all the QuickTime files I
could find. So I reinstalled Quicktime, and then I followed the directions exactly as you gave them. This time it worked perfectly, and when I
rebooted my computer, no quicktime on the taskbar!
I should say, I followed the instructions in the 'uninstall quicktime instructions' link above, in case anyone else wants to remove quicktime. I
didn't try the other suggestions; there was no need to.
