When I started searching the web in my quest for knowledge, I had no idea that I would find what Ive found.

I know vastly more than I did and sometimes, I think more than I should.

However, I now find myself questioning almost everything I see or hear or read. Being aware of what is going on around me has almost made me paranoid.

There is a possibility that we who know (WWK) will lose touch with reality and see conspiracies where they are none.

This makes us weaker rather than stronger. Repeated exposure to all this could cause some sort of sensory overload.
We must question, but we must also accept some things on faith.

I understand completley what you are saying. My best advice would be to ground yourself firmly to the things you have experianced, or seen, or the things you absolutly know to be the truth. Keep them as your foundation in realiy. All other things must be kept in the relm of "possible", until you have conformation, that they are true two.

True. An open mind is a wonderful thing to have. I was just thinking, if in twenty or thirty years things are still more or less the same as they are now, the youth still seeing conspiracies, and the the current members of ATS sitting in their rocking chairs somewhere recollecting the past.

Maybe we can all have a get together and reminisce...

It's easy to become overloaded at first. I did. I was a wreck. But I'm ok now!

I question what I see in American mainstream media long before I question the analyses of educated political observers like Pilger.

Skepticism is healthy.

Any time you don't get the full story from the media, or you ask for the full story and don't get it, then by definition there is a conspiracy to withhold information from you. Those conspiracies may have sinister overtones and be caused by an agenda of corruption, deceit and lies, or sometimes they may not.

I recommend Ouspensky (Gurdjieff's main mouthpiece) on 'knowledge', and why your 'being' at a certain level will prevent you from being able to assimilate and use further 'knowledge'. There are times to work on your being. One of those times for many people is now. Many people in the world are doing just so, but not in cultures driven by mass merchandising and commodity fetishism.

Work on your being - do you mean 'spiritually' for the want of a better word.

And boy does the commercialism of the so called 1st World suck

nice. just read the first third of "in search of the miraculous" by ouspensky. i've brushed a lot of the ideas elsewhere, so it's not entirely new to me, but it is a GREAT book for having centralized and sorted through the (esoteric)info tide at the turn of the century.
as for info overload nowadays, check into marshall mcluhan's work. that guy KNEW. also, the infamous bob dobbs. you'll find some of his material at: www.mcluhaninstitute.org.... it will just overload you more at first, but it's media science, and the whole ball of wax will be greatly reduced for those who do their homework.
masked avatar, dobbs also speaks of the four bodies(and the new fifth body). ever checked him out?

I totally understand how you feel. I my self sometimes tend to question everything too, now. That's why some say "Ignorance is bliss."

I have always questioned things, and unless I saw it, I never really believed it. It has always made me wonder, what makes a believer and what makes a skeptic. I have tried to live by the concept (but not limited to) "The only true wisdom consists in knowing that you know nothing."

Knowledge is a wonderful thing.
Though, too much at one time can be a bit rough.
Skepticism is good!

But too much skepticism can also be a hinderance.
When in doubt, search and look for confirmation on what you read.
Discernment is obviously of the beholder....we all see things and interpret things differently.
But be assurd.....truth will reveal itself sooner of later.

At one point, all the liest in the media stressed me. From a very young age, I could see lies in the media. But no one else agreed that they were lies, and I questioned myself sometimes.

When I learned that I was right, I could see the lies all the time. One of the most recent ones was about the guy whose pond they think he made anthrax in. I can't remember his name. On Good Morning America, Peter Jennings was interviewing his spokesman. It was disgusting.

The spokesman was explaining why his friend was innocent. He started to talk about the anthrax missing from the military laboratory, and Jennings cut him off and accused him of lying. Jennings said, "Well the FBI just now told me..."

The spokesman said, what is the FBI doing giving all their info to a reporter?

Jennings cut him off again, and ended the interview. It was obvious that a cover-up was going on.

billybob

Thanks for the billybob bobdobbs tip!

No, I haven't looked at his angle on media science, but I will.

In the Gurdjieff/Ouspensky model of 'being' I know what kind of man I am, but I certainly haven't integrated all my "I's".

I have disowned all my academic qualifications, except insofar as I can call on the skills and knowledge derived from them on auto-pilot. On paper they mean nothing. There are, however, some people who are permanently trapped, who don't acquire the skills and knowledge, nor actually do any work on themselves or their 'being'.

I can see that there are people here who have no scope to begin observing themselves, but there are others with that kind of potential.

It is not something that I want to have isolate me from 'everyday people', and I am by no means elitist, and I don't care that I might be labelled as intellectually arrogant or snobbish, but as many people find, taking a journey outside the material culture and having to dip into it from time to time is a challenge to personal development.

Do you really feel that the interview you mentioned was playing up the 'crackpot' factor, or was it just cut for time?

Definately the crackpot factor. Peter Jennings told him he was wrong, then quickly ended the interview.

People who say people sitting on the internet for hours are rotting there brains are talking rubbish i have found it has changed my perception of reality for the better i ssee things more clearly and the best way to comprehend all this knowledge is to meditate and learn to have absolute control over your emotions.A healthy body is needed as well for the best clarity, the mind and the brain are seperate things the mind grows from things we learn in this world and only when you realise this truth and stzrt to move towards it can you become enlightend.

Well said Fitzpatrick.

I hope you can sort out the germs (and gems) of truth from the dross here at ATS, and you gather much to meditate on.

Don't believe anything except the facts. If there are no facts, look for them. That leaves plenty of room for considering possible conspiracies, but still protects you from being a fool.
