The troops were on their way to a planned meeting with Iraqi security forces when they were attacked.
The attack came as Iraq's new government launched its biggest crackdown yet on insurgents in Baghdad.
It follows a wave of attacks by guerillas in the past month in which more than 600 people have been killed.

How many more people must die before the insurgents in Iraq realise they are not going to win?
They are just holding their own country back and the longer they carry on attacking the coalition forces the longer we will stay in Iraq!
The insurgents dont even deserve to be alive and the major offenxive that has begun against them can only be a good thing!
