M.B.H.S.: You often call for uniting Muslim and progressive forces globally. How far is it possible under current situation?

Galloway: Not only do I think it's possible but I think it is vitally necessary and I think it is happening already. It is possible because the progressive
movement around the world and the Muslims have the same enemies. *Their enemies are the Zionist occupation, American occupation, British occupation of poor countries mainly Muslim countries. *
**
*They have the same interest in opposing savage capitalist globalization which is intent upon homogenizing the entire world turning us basically into factory chickens which can be forced fed the American diet of everything from food to Coca-Cola to movies and TV culture*. And *whose only role in life is to consume the things produced endlessly by the multinational corporations.* And the progressive organizations & movements agree on that with the Muslims.

Otherwise we believe that we should all have to speak as Texan and eat McDonalds and be ruled by Bush and Blair. So *on the very grave big issues of the day-issues of war, occupation, justice, opposition to globalization-the Muslims and the progressives are on the same side*.

But they now do have some other differences and they are nonetheless important. These are the very big issues that divide progressive organizations and Muslims. But they are fewer than people imagine and the more they want work together as I am doing and have been for many years with Muslims organizations and sincere as well as devout Muslims the fewer the differences are and the less the gap there seems to be.

This is just a critique of neocolonialism and unbounded capitalism.
What point are you trying to make?

I suppose that by "we" you are referring to the US governement. The US not only pushed and financially supported Saddam Hussein's war with Iran, but also provided pinpoint satellite intelligence for the delivery of chemical weapons on Iranian infantry. Saddam Hussein is an important witness in this case of complicity in the use of banned weapons, and the question will probably be adressed during his trial.

Gotta love that galloway!

He's just so cool on so many levels!

He's so right, the progressive and the muslims have already united to an extent
there is not much difference between our struggle for justice. The resistance is made up off socialist, nationalists and muslims, and you can be one person and and also those 3 things.

Galloway, What a hero!

As an American I have to applaud Galloway for having the courage to tell it like it is. I had not thought of it but perhaps all this focus on the oil for food scandal is also being used to try and throw a smokescreen over whats happening in Iraq and also used to target people who are speaking out against the war.
The downing street memo has come out and proved that we were making plans to go in no matter what. Link to memo

I have not noticed if anyone has posted a transcript link of Galloway's testimony or not just in case here is one, there two pages of it.

Sir, I salute your courage, your strength and your indefatigability

It was Sadaam Hussein.

Galloway has a small grasp of the truth which is why he was able to upend those Senatorial Whores, servants of the NWO
The Senate is bad, but at least they are not defending Sadaam and saying that we have to side with bin Laden, Sadaam, and al Zarqawi (although I expect Howard Dean to make a comment soon).

He considers himself Left which is an internal error for him as most leftists
Ha. You're concerned about his label. I'm worried that he thinks it's ok to side with bin Laden and Sadaam.

You,Luke are an arguiste of the Center, the most fascist and Nazi position of global corporation statism that can be held
Get you're facts straight. The Nazis stemed out of socialism and big government. Traditional conservatism is small government. It reflects the thinking of Patrick Henry and Thomas Jefferson.

The wings from left and right, be they so ill-defined are about to descend on you and yours
Hey, Jim Morrison, thanks for the beautiful, but excruciating painful, attempt at poetry. The great artful farts you make prove your genius. Hold on for a second....

PUUUUUUUUUKKKKKKKKKKEEEEEEE
PUUUUUUUUUKKKKKKKKKKEEEEEEE
PUUUUUUUUUKKKKKKKKKKEEEEEEE
PUUUUUUUUUKKKKKKKKKKEEEEEEE

And to the guy who voted for him, do you (you know, I can't say it or they would ban me again), too? Let's just sum it up with Gay For Pay.

Luke, I have read the article you sent.
I didn't take you too seriously, because you've been acting extremely childish and using profanities to make your points.
George Galloway isn't my hero, and he doesn't speak for me.
Like I said before he's an extremist.
If the interview you sent is factual its rather worrying.

I'll admit that he's an extremist, but I'll also admit that he speaks his mind.
You're obviously right-wing, and read such news outlets like "Frontpagemag", "Worldnetdaily", "Newsmax".
If you allign yourself with the right, and you happen to support military action against Muslims, are you any better than Galloway?

And I have to say this a million times, why do you think these ignorant people speak for Muslims?
Does Hitler speak for Catholics? That would be foolish to assume so.
Next time try to put your point across in a mature way, otherwise people won't take you seriously.

Since Galloway was recently attacked by an extremist islamist group, I find it hard to believe that the interview is true.
Second, this Iraqi website you quoted seems to be run by extremists who want to "Free Saddam".
www.iraq-news.de...

Does this sound like a reliable newsource? These people are obviously lunatics, and could have twisted the words of Galloway to suit their own purposes (provided the interview did occur).
These are not reliable news sources.
Any news source that takes one side, and is blatantly bias, is unreliable.

I can't find on that article him claiming that they should take up arms and fight the oppressers. It can be taken either way:

Military
Political

How do you know they're not talking about the second option? Protests, voting, etc, to get rid of Blair and Bush? Also it does not say he is addressing Militant Muslims, he could be speaking to those that wish to go through the Political Process. It's easy enough to assume he is talking to "militant" Islam, but not once is that states. Also he clearly states "Anti-War" movement, which was a "PEACEFUL PROTEST". It is fairly clear he wants them to get together, march, vote, protest but not in a violent way. He even states: "So for their sake I don't want their young men to be torn into pieces."

You've just taken a few quotes and used them out of context, it's clear if you bother to read all of it he is talking about Muslims joining the "Anti-War" movement, which was peacful.

Transcripts of Galloway´s interviews with Al-Jazeera (June 1, 2005) and Abu-Dhabi TV (November 20, 2004) ...

MEMRI: British MP George Galloway on Al-Jazeera: Calls for Bush, Blair, Koizumi, and Berlusconi to Stand Trial

June 8, 2005

Al-Jazeera Interview

"Bush, and Blair, and the prime minister of Japan, and Berlusconi, these people are criminals, and they are responsible for mass murder in the world, for the war, and for the occupation, through their support for Israel, and through their support for a globalized capitalist economic system, which is the biggest killer the world has ever known. It has killed far more people than Adolph Hitler. It has killed far more people than George Bush. The economic system which these people support, which leaves most of the people in the world hungry, and without clean water to drink.

Ancient freedoms, which we had for hundreds of years, are being taken away from us under the name of the war on terror, when the real big terrorists are the governments of Britain and the United States. They are the real rogue states breaking international law, invading other people's countries, killing their children in the name of anti-terrorism, when in fact, all they're achieving is to make more terrorists in the world, not less, to make the world more dangerous, rather than less. These are our priorities."

To the guy above, if you read the article further he talks about the heroes of the Iraqi resistance and calls them our friends.

I read Frontpagemag. It's the only one of those that I read. Sometimes it gets boring and repetitive but its okay. My guys are Hendrix, Morrison, and McCartney.

And I have to say this a million times, why do you think these ignorant people speak for Muslims?
Does Hitler speak for Catholics? That would be foolish to assume so.
Next time try to put your point across in a mature way, otherwise people won't take you seriously.

Firstoff I really don't care what people think of me. And the Hitler thing is incorrect. People stood up and said Hitler was wrong and fought him. How many Arabs are doing that? How many Arabs can you get to say that Israel is a good country?

There are a lot of good Arabs. The ones that are running the new government are awesome and standing up to the bullies trying to push people around. The bad ones are the ones that think that I am going to boss everyone around and they better do what I say or I will kill them. Actually, I really won't kill them I am going to act like a little bitch and send women and children to do my fighting.

And to the Syria Sister, just keep coming out. If you think you can take us on you haven't seen nothing. You think cutting a person's head off is bad? I cut your balls off and sick a Pit Bull on you to eat out your insides. You will learn that the most violent creature on earth is a white American teenager.

Have to hand to Galloway, wish we had more politicans who would speak up in such a strong voice.

Though people do seem to misinterpet their info, or they sometimes take it out of context. Theirs no denying the genocide of the UN sanctions, its a very cruel way of attacking Iraq's economy. Many people though, will see death, children, sanctions, US then they take off run with it. IT was UN sanctions though pressured by the US and the UK. We wouldn't allow the sanctions to be lifted while Saddam was still in power.

These sanctions started in 1990, and it wasn't until 1997 when the UN realized that the harsh treatment were effecting the children of Iraq, and had not pressured Saddam for coorperation. The "Food for Oil programme" had begun to give aid to minors.

Many elected leaders which included Russia and France had tried to lift the sanctions, but were unsuccessful.
It wasn't until May 03' when George W. Bush urged the lifting (which didn't last very long, considering the fact that almost all agreed.).

Its a shame Jimmy Stewart isn't around to star in 'Mr Galloway Goes To Washington" (if you get my drift). I've hardly noticed the bloke before (apart from what have now been proven to be media lies to discredit him) But he was pretty impressive with those home truths.

If I ever saw Galloway in public I would hit him over the head with a hammer, hook a meat hook around his achille's tendon, hang him upside down and slit his throat.

I mean why try talking sense to a pig? Deal with him just like any other.

Violent acts, lead to violent acts. You are a white American Teenager, the probablity if you don't even know anger yet. As an American you are insultaed from it, as a teenager you are more like a cheery bomb than a nuke and as you are white, you probably haven't had a pain in your belly from lack of food. Maybe all this is wrong and you are a poor, white teenager who has witness horrible acts of violence, no doubt ate out of garbage bins and had to fight for a peice of day old bread....... The probablity isn't very high though.

No offense intended, but it doesn't show a heck of a lot of intelligence to like violence for the sake of violence..

Look at the Civil War. The South didn't give in until we brought the fight to the people.

I've been beaten up pretty bad. And I'm telling you, the most dangerous creature in the world is a white American teenager. Bar none. US is no land of milk and honey.

Wow. Thanks for the insight Ghandi. Haven't you've ever heard of sarcasm, or irony? Everyone thinks Quentin Taratino is funny. Why am I suddenly a bad guy? And you got to admit that fat bastard looks freakishly like a hog. Doesn't it say something that a man who sympathizes with the Arab cause has big butter jowles and looks like he eats prime rib every night?

"Wow. Thanks for the insight Ghandi. Haven't you've ever heard of sarcasm, or irony?"

- Sure have. Have yet to know how to decipher it through text though.

" Everyone thinks Quentin Taratino is funny. Why am I suddenly a bad guy? And you got to admit that fat bastard looks freakishly like a hog."

- Which fat bastard are you talking about? Not everyone does - maybe some do. Why are you a bad guy? I don't know, I don't know you are you a bad guy?

" Doesn't it say something that a man who sympathizes with the Arab cause has big butter jowles and looks like he eats prime rib every night?"

- No more than most of those that seem to sympathize with this might makes right notion of Bush, should the FIT hits the shan, won't last a minute. Those that yap about fighting and war and violence are always the ones first to cry when they get slapped upside their noodle.

The fat bastard I'm talking about is Galloway. He looks like what happens when a beaver has sex with a sow.

And don't you think Bush went into Iraq because of the twin towers coming down? If 9/11 didn't happen we wouldn't be in Iraq.

That's a lot different then spending ten years being Sadaam Hussein's cabin boy and using Islamic Terrorism to write books and get in the spotlight.

- Actually George Galloway has made it very clear (on several occassions) that these comments were actually addressed to the Iraqi people and not Saddam Hussein personally.
(Not that it ever stops them being used to attack him in this way.)

This is typical of the distortion people have resorted to to attack him.

He has faced courts - with limited means - many times.
He has won every time because those that would attack him invariably resort to distortion and lies.

Much as I know GG is a character one can criticise I just love it when he 'slaps it up' the liars.

Nail on the head, sminkey, but I very much doubt that we've seen the last time this will be trotted out.

Personally I'm glad somebody finally had the stones to call it as it is. I watched the video and Galloway made the senators look like idiots. They hammered away on the most mundane and idiotic points which made them look unprepared and clearly George prepared for his time in front of the witch hunt. Levin kept hammering on whether or not George knew if his buddy was trading oil in Iraq which he answered several times. I'm sure Cheney knew nothing about Haliburtons deelings in Iraq while he was CEO(Ya right!)

Really what business does the US have in pointing the finger at anyone. The rules only apply when it suits US interests and choose to ignore the ones that don't jive with the gameplan(geneva convention anyone). How do you really expect to garner any support when you openly torture people and who would be the first to cry bloody murder if someone snatched up one of your people for no reason and transported them illegally to a country to get tortured.

Stop the hypocracy and people might respect you. Keep it up and you'll be all alone in this world with no support.
