The original episode I believe was run in or around FEB 2001, just over 6 months before the incident.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR (you'll have to excuse the reaction. I'm a Lone Gunmen fan and webmaster for a couple of Gunmen sites... and I've actually met "Byers" (just once!))

Okay. Once more, from the top:
The episode was written in early 2000 by the team of John Shiban, Frank Spotnitz, and Vince Gilligan. We had insider info (from Erynn, who actually knows Bruce Harwood very well... has visited his home, in fact) that they were filming in August of 2000 and it was in the can well before January 2001 and the premiere screening for the fans.

Air date for the first episode was March 4th, 2001.

The terrorists had their plans in place LONG before 2000... and Spotzy, Shiban, and Gilligan had no contact with anyone. They're writers, and writers make this stuff up all the time.

Lone Gunmen source sites (we're still an active fandom):
www.tvtome.com...
and Warehouse (I need to update this!)
lonegunmen.furvect.com...

... and about a bazillion fan fiction sites. Most of them are slash (male/male sexual stories) and of interest only to the female fans. I won't post addresses but you can google them if you like.

I was close, March. I was only going from Memory. I am (was) a huge XFiles fan and also loved the Lone Gunman spin off. I just remembered the date off the top of my head and was thinking late feb, but, early march is close.
