That video of the ghost in the impound lot got me interested. Has anybody here had any encounters with ghosts? Like a sighting or maybe you've been tricked by one or something like that.

I think there may be a ghost in my house. A couple years ago I was listening to music in my room when all of a sudden a CD fell off my stario. So then i picked it up thinking it must have been the vibrations from the music, when all of a sudden and entire stack of CD's fell to the ground. But they didn't just fall off, they were pushed off (there is no way i did it). I tried to rationalize it the best I could, but the only explanation is that some force deliberately knocked them off the table to get my attention. Maybe the ghost was getting pissed off with the music (it was Rage Against the Machine) which is understandable.

And then a while after that experience, again in my room, I was in my bed getting ready for sleep. I reached over to switch off my bed-side lamp, and at that exact second my stario switch on by itself. My remote by the way was on top of one of the speakers. So it was not me. It was a ghost I swear it.

It sounds like there was a ghost in your house to me, but you said that was a couple of years ago. Do you think it is still there?

So sign of it since, it could still be around. Maybe it's just hanging out and watching. I'm still a little creeped out about that experience but it made me believe there's something beyond.

My dad is convinced my house is haunted. He tells me about when he's sleeping on his water bed and he feels something pressing down on it and making impressions in the bed. He said it feels like a cat walking next to him. We had a cat a while ago that ran away and I'm sure it died a few days later. My older brother also has a water bed. He was telling me and my dad about how when his room was upstairs, his water bed would start shaking like something just got on the bed. It would start to wave just like when you first sit down on it.

I do not doubt it, and I also do not doubt that these visitors come in all shapes, sizes and varieties. I think that sometimes they do try to communicate with us, for whatever reason, but we are not meant to hear them. That we do sometimes though anyways is evident, but that could also be intentional. Many people I have spoken to, when questioned do they believe in the afterlife have said to me that there is no point to life if there isnt. Why not go and act out your most fiendish impulses if we are not going to be held accountable for them when our bodies die here.

I do not agree with those assertions any longer, although I did when I was a youngling. But I definitely believe that life is not the end of our existence, nor its beginning.

I was in the market to purchase a home and went with the real-estate people to see houses. One home they took me to seemed really underpriced. When we went inside I got COLD chills going, down my back.
I looked at all the rooms, but it was the stairway leading to the second floor that gave me the problem. I told the real estate lady that, "Something doesn't feel right here." Than she said," That's why the house is so cheap. A man hung himself in the stairwell." I said, " I think I'll look at more houses thank-you."

Ok my brother just moved into my grandparents' old house. My grandfather died in the bedroom my brother sleeps in. He told me that whenever you close the basement door, even if you lock it, the next time he looks at it it's opened somehow. I'm not sure what the connection to the basement is but that's what happens..

You should check it out for your self. That would pretty much prove the existence of ghosts.

I think it's a shame that the scientific community doesn't do more extensive studies on the afterlife. I think it could be proven if more people gave it the time of day.

ghosts are real and shouldnt be feared. remember that they are just people like you and me without bodies
its sounds like you had a poltergeist conspirator (different thing alltogether)

a person in our house has a similar thing LostP she had a cat too, and she still feels her around her legs (y kno when they do that annoying thing with their head)
i wonder why they stay back? kind of says something for religion- or do they go to afterlife after a while?

its all over my head

In hawaii, some ghosts of the old tribes that lived there have been known to haunt mass burial sites, one is located under a firestation. Sometimes, a man will be strangled to death, or just not be able to breath. This happens every once in awhile, and can turn serious. I have a new house, so I don't need to worry about ghosts.

My house I belive is haunted. Years ago a total og three people died there. A young boy jumped out a window in my hallway. A guy was shot in my garage. And some woman killed herself. I see the guy's ghost in my hal, he just stands there. I hear the boy run sown the hall. The woman I never saw. Plus something bangs on my bedroom door at night sometimes.

But we should not fear them. That is one thing they want. To live on your fear.

IMO, there's probably more to the afterlife than Heaven or Hell. Consider this: If all of the people who ever died went straight to either place, then there would be *no* ghosts...but *most* of those souls seem to go somewhere while others hang around the living for a time (for whatever reasons they have).

I know this is an old topic and stuff but i only just now read it (haven't been here that long) and i wanted to respond

my old house, the house i grew up in, was haunted by my cat, Irving. Irving died when i was about 5 or 6, he got out one day (all our cats are indoor) and somebody snuck up on him and shot him (he was deaf so it wasn't hard to sneak up on him). Well starting not to long afterwards and continuing until we moved out of that house 3 1/2 years ago i would sometimes feel a cat or something cat sized walking around on my bed while i slept but when i looked down nothing was there, and i would hear his meow (Irving had a real distinctive meow because he was deaf, it was extremely loud and obnoxious and he only did it late at night) at night every once in a while

also, maybe another ghost, not sure bout this one...but my toilet would flush on it's own...the TV and radio would decide by themselves to turn on and off, and change channels and volume, the door to the spare room (mom's office/sewing room, i called it the spare room) which was right next to my room would shake at night alot, and that room was always really cold and just damned creepy

thought i'd add my 2 cents...

there used to be two ghosts in my house an older man and a smaller child, i think it was a girl and my mom says it was a girl. but they hung around until my sister(the youngest child) turned about 4 or 5. there gone now and my mom thinks they had something to do with us being kids. why the same two ghosts for all 3 of us i'm not sure but thats what it was. me and my mom used to always see the little girl in the hallway between room (which is at the top of the stairs) and her room. the man used to be seen sitting in the rocking chair of what used to be the babies room (my brother and then my sister, i was 2 when we moved into this house).

i'm not sure about for other people who have seen ghosts but for me i would see like a white blob and it was an image in my mind that gave me detail. then again i was young so i may be mistaken, i was 11 or 12 the last time i saw them).

as for why ghosts are here i always had my theories but could never figure out how to word them. i think david icke put it best in his video that i saw. it went something like our body is just our shell and tool to be able to interact with this world, we ourselves are our conscienceness, spirit whatever. and it been proven that conscienceness is energy. therefore sceince says that energy cannot be created nor destroyed therefore we are energy and energy cannot be destroyed so we live eternally.

put everything i believed into perspective. now whether we stay as the same "person" forever who knows.

Not sure exactly what it is, ghost, or something else, but here's the story anyhow....

It happens mostly when one of us is alone in the house (I've experienced it, my girlfriend has, as well as a roomate we used to have...in fact, it seemed to pick on her more often, hehe....) and usually early in the morning, or late at night, though it has happened in the day a couple of times.

Basically, it's footsteps. Hard, deliberate footsteps, going up and down the staircase leading from our dining room to the upstairs hall. You can be right at the staircase, and look up it, and you'll swear there is someone walking up and down the steps. It's really weird. And no, there is no nearby source for the sound. I mean, it's really obvious that it's happening right there. The "entity" also loves to play with the light in the staircase too, constantly dimming it, sometimes extinguishing it, even though the switch is still on. The electrics have been replaced, and it still occurs. (Now, I'll be the first to admit that the lights could be a billion environmental things, but if you heard those footsteps, and the stairs creak, you'd be a believer).

There doesn't seem to be any malice, and he (it just "feels" masculine) seems content to just make noise every once in a while, so we don't think too much of it. Of course, the dog barks like crazy, and the cats pretty much run and hide every time it happens. The house was built in the 20's, and I know there was a fire once that destroyed the upper floor. I keep meaning to research it sometime, but just haven't gotten around to it yet.

I have 2 experiences that I can remember right now.

The first one happened when I was about 10 years old. I was playing NES with my brother in my grandmother's house. We were all alone in the house because my mother and grandmother were a couple of houses up the street in my aunts house. All of a sudden I heard footsteps in the hallway of the house. I got up and I stood at the end of the hallway to see who was there but I saw nobody. Then the footsteps got louder and louder as if someone was walking towards me. Then I heard a whistling noise. As the steps were almost on top of me I ran with my brother to my aunts house to tell my mom and grandma. I told her what happened about the footsteps and the whistling. My grandma asked me what the whistling was so I made the sound I heard for her and her face turned white. She told me that my grandfather (who died when I was 2) used to whistle the same song as he was leaving for work every morning. Weird huh?

About 9 years ago I woke up to a figure leaning against my wall and staring at me. I thought it might just be shadows playing tricks on my eyes so I got up and walked around it carefully keeping my eyes fixed on the unkown "thing". This "thing" turned out to be three-dimensional and needless to say I ran out of my room as fast as I could, whenever I returned the figure was gone and I haven't heard or seen anything since. Any idea's what it could've been?
