A father from California has been sent to prison for carrying out a live disection of his daughters guinea pig because he believed it to be spying on
him for the US government. The man was on methamphetamine at the time and has to attend counselling.
He was handed a 50 day prison sentence along with 3 years probation for the offence, along with other cruelty offences, including the starvation of
animals. His paranoia was reported to have been induced by his drug habit.
"It's not often you have someone this paranoid from using drugs that they think a guinea pig is spying on them for the government" Attorney Tom
Connors said. The offender thought the pet's teeth were bar-coded and that there was a camera in its head.
