Here it is boys, while they play this off as a debate to renew the patriot act, in actuality this is the kick off of Patriot Act 2. Pat roberts is the Chair for this committee if that tells you anything. They are supposed to be debating the sunset clause of the original Patriot Act, not proposing new legislations to strengthen this Facist crap. They told us the laws would sunset, that is how they got them through the Congress in the first place. But, considering the vague legal definitions and the fact that not a single member of Congress read the damned thing before it was voted in, who knows. The only ones to express any opposition to the act either died in a plane crash of received an american military strain of Anthrax in the mail. I dont see any real opposition to these bastards stepping up anytime soon, especially in the Senate, nobody wants to be a martyr I guess.

The long political battle over the USA Patriot Act will enter a new phase this week as the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence debates whether to approve a bill that not only would renew the anti-terrorism law, but also would give the FBI significant new powers in conducting counterterrorism and counterintelligence investigations.

Legislation proposed by committee Chairman Pat Roberts (R-Kan.) would allow the FBI to subpoena records in intelligence probes without the approval of a judge or grand jury and would make it easier for the bureau to get copies of mail, according to committee aides and a draft copy of the bill.
