Found this on the BBC/Top Gear website and it made me laugh. They were track testing a new version of the Lotus Exige and thought it would be good to see if an Army Air Corps Westland Apache could get radar lock on the little Lotus whilst remaining within the confines of the race track! Daft, but amusing.

In the past, they have also tested a lot of supercars out on the track and then got a Sea Harrier to 'fly' a lap - it won.

Anyone ever seen anything similar?

remember two things,

1. A Harrier GR7 nearly wiped a policmen off the face to the earth, he locked the GR7 up with a radar gun! (New Secentist) about three / four years ago. :-)

2. A Tornado G1A was used to trap a bunch of guys who were melting gold in north yorkshire, the police asked the raf to fly overand use to IR linescan to work out if the melting pot were being used.

Fool's think o it's just the RAF, then to door gets kicked in! lol

Great vid, thanks!

I like the line "the best helicopter gunship in the world flown by the best pilots in the world versus the best handling car in the world driven by an idiot"

Top Gear starts again tonight on BBC2, I'd watch it if you can.
