The life of a rose

Before a rose can be grown, a hip must be sown
And nurtured for all that life’s worth
Its beauty depends on sun, rain, and winds
With a blessing from sweet Mother Earth
When, at last, the bud appears, shedding dew drop tears
It’s as pure and as fresh as a child
The petals, exposed, hold the heart of the rose
By the hand of God it’s been styled

The life of a rose takes every pose
From tight bud to full bloomed and spent
Each petal unfolds, turns back and rolls
Each twist in itself an event
When the heart of the rose is finally exposed
There isn’t much left but the pollen
The beauty contained cannot be profaned
No matter the hardship befallen

Wherein our lives, as each of us strives
For the path ahead we must follow
No matter our climbs, there are still times
When in doubt and fear we lay fallow
The rose takes its course for better, or worse
It is much the same for us all
In your faith be true, trust hope to lead you
Through belief may our bloom be eternal
